The new routes from Christchurch to Singapore, Tokyo and Perth are part of an agreement with Christchurch Airport to boost the South Island's international connectivity.
Air New Zealand chief executive Nikhil Ravishankar announced the new routes alongside Christchurch Airport chief executive Justin Watson and Prime Minister Christopher Luxon at tourism event TRENZ in Auckland on Wednesday.

On Monday, Tasker, 33, was found guilty at the High Court at Christchurch of murdering Fleming and seriously injuring Senior Sergeant Adam Ramsay.
Speaking after the verdict, Fleming's sister Jo Brown paid tribute to her sister. Fleming's son, Aren Olsen, described the day she died as "hardest day" his family had ever had to live through.

In its annual economic survey of New Zealand published last week, the OECD said the LNG proposal risked locking in fossil dependence and instead recommended investment in non-gas generation like biomass or pumped hydro.
Speaking to reporters at Parliament on Tuesday, Luxon said he was "not interested" in the OECD's findings or recommendations.
Meanwhile, Labour Party leader Chris Hipkins told reporters the LNG import facility was a "gold-plated bad idea" which would cost New Zealanders more through a new gas tax.

Whangārei area response manager, Senior Sergeant Rene Rakete, said police received multiple calls on Monday morning reporting disorderly behaviour from a man in Whangārei CBD.
As officers chased the fleeing man, a member of the public who was outside Honey's Coffee Shop intervened, tackling the alleged offender to the ground.
Rakete said the man's actions prevented further damage and while police encourage the community not to take matters in to their own hands, "this individual definitely came to the aid of police and we are grateful".
"I also wouldn't be surprised if he gets a call up from the All Blacks after watching that tackle." Rakete said.

Andrew Leslie walked to the top of Mount Kaukau 35 times in the past 12 months as part of his rehabilitation.
Six years ago, Leslie injured his spinal cord in a mountain bike accident. He spent five months in hospital and had to learn to navigate life as a tetraplegic.
Leslie managed to walk out of Burwood Hospital, but moving his body remained an ongoing struggle.

Christchurch Hospital NICU clinical director Bronwyn Dixon said 59 mothers were sent from Christchurch to another city in the last year because of capacity constraints, causing a huge amount of added stress.
Cabinet has now signed off a $13.9 million expansion for the unit, increasing beds from 44 to 54, and a number of other improvements such as more space for privacy.
Māia Health Foundation chief executive Michael Flatman said the charity had committed an additional $2.1 million to put the finishing touches on the project.
