- Anna Anderson is an energetic businessperson who leverages technology and relationships with local growers to connect fresh, locally grown meat, fruits and vegetables with consumers in her community.
Glory Garden is a year-round online farmers market serving Sioux Falls. Anderson is a market gardener herself who partners with more than 15 other local farmers to provide fresh produce, free range eggs, grass fed meat, raw honey, and more. Customers order online and pick up at a drop site in Sioux Falls.
Mary Holm explores this new model of supporting local farmers with Anderson, who noticed that the Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) model, where consumers receive a box of veggies every week during the summer, did not always work for people. “It was just too much food. They hated throwing it away,” Anderson said. So she created the online pick and choose approach collaborating with other farmers and has found a successful niche market.

Season 12 Episode 7 | The Northwest Angle Ice Road, protecting livestock with donkeys and Stoney Creek Farm.
During the winter, the Northwest Angle is only reachable by snowmobile or a road through Canada. But because of COVID-19, the Canada-U.S. border has been closed since March 2020 and businesses in the Angle have suffered steep economic losses. In January, resort owners teamed up to create a 30-mile-long ice road over the frozen Lake of the Woods and provide auto access to the Angle. The Prairie Sportsman crew traveled up the Northwest Angle Ice Road, which starts north of Warroad, and interviewed some of the area’s resort and cabin owners and anglers.

Sylvan Lake in Canby and other small kids ponds in western Minnesota are being stocked with keeper-size walleyes by the DNR. Ortonville Area Fisheries staff manage 45 rearing ponds that they stock with fingerlings in the spring and net in the fall to stock area lakes. However some walleyes escape the nets and quickly grow large in the managed ponds. DNR staff decided to stock these in small ponds near towns to give youth exciting fishing opportunities and hook them on angling for life. The Prairie Sportsman crew is out with DNR staff at night in an electrofishing boat used to capture larger walleyes, then at Sylvan Lake where youth help bring n...
