The exception is an annual deer hunt for people with disabilities sponsored by Capable Partners, a volunteer organization that sets up 14 blinds on the island. Host Bret Amundson talks about the experience with the event’s coordinator, Lance Tebben, and hunters Bob Hagan of Montevideo, Jennifer Skiff of Lonsdale and Dean Peterson of Dawson. Host Bret Amundson is fishing Otter Tail County lakes with Garett Svir, Slab Seeker Fishing owner. Svir supports the DNR’s proposed Quality Bluegill Initiative, which would impose reduced bluegill bag limits in 26 counties to increase fish size. Large male bluegills are important to the population because they chase small males from spawning beds and the larger fish pass on their genetics.
Garett self-imposes a 9-inch length limit to preserve bigger fish. Otter Tail County is known as one of the top places in the country to catch trophy bluegills.

- Update: An Asatru Folk Assembly gothi, or priest, Jason Plourde, has twice had a harassment restraining order denied by a Kandiyohi District Court Judge. He filed the request against Murdock Area Alliance Against Hate co-founder Victoria Guillemard.
During their city council meeting on April 14, the Murdock City Council and their lawyer, Don Wilcox, concluded that the Asatru Folk Assembly; a whites-only, separatist organization, has not been in violation of their conditional use permit. However, the city was unaware that an additional temporary permit had been issued by the city's contracted building inspector.

- The prairie riverine environment of Lac qui Parle County Park near Dawson has a fascinating history. Told by local historian David Craigmile, he reveals the story of how 22 pioneer families traversed up from Iowa in the late 1860s to the region. Here they encountered friendly Dakota people and chose the now designated park to stake their claim on a new life and later built a community. Today the county park is enjoyed by many for its beautiful trees and sheltered river valley.

However, the city was unaware that an additional temporary permit had been issued by the city's contracted building inspector.
