- The OECD/G20 Base Erosion and Profit Shifting Project delivers solutions for closing the gaps in existing international rules that have allowed corporate profits to “disappear” or be artificially shifted to low or no-tax environments, where companies have little or no economic activity. Since June 2017, nearly 80 countries have signed a new Multilateral Convention developed as part of the BEPS Project. The Convention will enable governments to swiftly update their networks of existing tax treaties and further reduce opportunities for tax avoidance. - Commercial forests are long-term production cycles - it could be 50 to 100 years from the day a sapling is planted until the mature tree is harvested. Since 1967, the OECD forest reproductive material scheme has facilitated trade and helped ensure that the seeds and saplings planted by foresters are the ones they intended to use.
