- An off-duty Reno Fire Department operator was arrested on multiple charges after crashing into a car and then slamming into a brick wall in northwest Reno Monday afternoon.
Shawn C. Price was charged with driving under the influence (first offense) and failure to maintain lanes following the crash on the 2300 block of Avenida de Landa around 1 p.m. on March 17.
The Sparks Police Department took over the investigation due to a conflict of interest with the Reno Police Department. A spokesperson from the Sparks Police Department confirmed the suspect's vehicle crossed the center line at a high rate of speed before colliding with the wall near Fair Oak Drive. Police said both speed and intoxication are believed to be factors in the crash.
Price was hospitalized for non-life-threatening injuries before being booked into the Washoe County jail. He has since been released, according to the daily arrest report. Sparks police said the driver of the other ...

The stocking will take place at the north boat ramp, with fish trucks arriving from the Mason Valley Hatchery.
Following this initial stocking, the Sparks Marina will continue to receive regular fish stocks through early summer. NDOW fisheries staff plans to begin stocking other urban ponds later this month or as conditions allow.
Between spring and fall, NDOW stocks approximately 88,000 trout across 20 community ponds and streams in western Nevada. Urban ponds receive the largest fish the hatchery produces, typically measuring 9 to 10 inches. Stocking occurs every two weeks when conditions are favorable, generally from March through June and again from September through October.

- Twenty people have been charged and a final arrest has been made in connection to a prison brawl that left three inmates dead and five others injured at the Ely State Prison last summer, the Attorney General's office announced Tuesday.
AG Aaron Ford's office said in a statement the final arrest was made March 5 and in total, 20 defendants face multiple charges including three counts of first-degree murder with the use of a deadly weapon with intent to promote or assist a criminal gang, and five counts of attempted murder with the use of a deadly weapon with intent to promote or assist a criminal gang.
"The pursuit of justice does not stop at the prison gates, and those responsible for the deaths of the three inmates at Ely State Prison will be held accountable," said Ford.
