- In one of the most unforgettable finishes in NSAA history, Giltner defeated Howells 52-41 in double overtime. The game is remembered for the incredible sequence that sent it to OT: trailing by three with less than two seconds left, Giltner's Dustin Hastings intentionally missed a free throw that led to a tipped pass and a buzzer-beating three by Jake Findley. Giltner dominated the second overtime to finish 29-0.

- In this episode of Nebraska High School Classics, we revisit to the 2000 Class A State Football Championship between Lincoln Southeast and Creighton Prep. Sophomore quarterback Nick Bahe scored the decisive touchdown in double overtime to lift Lincoln Southeast past Creighton Prep 14–7 and complete an undefeated 13–0 season. It marked Southeast’s seventh Class A state title, and first since the late 1990s, underscoring the program’s resurgence.
Creighton Prep (12–1) came close but was shut out through two OTs.
