- Hurricane Lee will bring Land Impacts this Week...
- Runtime
- 15:31
- Date posted
- Description
- Hurricane Lee will bring impacts to land, and it will not escape safely out to sea. As Lee turns to the north, the wind field expands. This means tropical storm conditions are highly likely for Bermuda, starting on Thursday.
After that, Hurricane Lee will weaken, but will bring widespread tropical storm conditions from Eastern New England, through Nova Scotia, and even parts of Newfoundland. The core of the hurricane will erode, which is good, so this will not be as strong as Hurricane Fiona was last September. But as it weaken, the wind field gets wider, so more locations will feel gusty tropical storm conditions.
A strong tropical wave that just came off the coast of Africa, should become the next named system (Nigel). It will be slow to develop, but eventually become a tropical storm and then a hurricane. It will approach the Eastern Caribbean early next week, but it is still too early to tell if it will make the curve (like Lee) or enter directly into th...

- New System forming this Week...

- Description
- A new system will form in the Atlantic this week, all while Hurricane Lee gets closer to Bermuda and Canada.
All the major computers models show a new tropical disturbance becoming a hurricane next weekend, or into the following week. The atmospheric conditions are similar to what Hurricane Lee had, which means things are conducive for this to develop into a tropical storm and then hurricane. The next name is Nigel.
It is too early to tell if this new system will move into the Caribbean or curve to the north. Please know I am watching it very carefully.
Hurricane Lee will be close to Bermuda Thursday and Friday. The hope is the core of the hurricane winds stay just to the west. After that, Lee will move near Nova Scotia and Newfoundland. It is too early to know the impacts because the track is still uncertain. With that said, as Lee lifts to the north, it will enter cooler water and weaken.

- Hurricane Lee Slows Down and could Stall...
- Runtime
- 13:44
- Date posted
- Description
- Hurricane Lee will slow down over the next few days and could even stall when it is just north of Puerto Rico. Any time a system slows or stalls, there could be some changes, which I'll be watching out for. Sometimes they just drift. If this, for example, drifts closer to the Turks & Caicos, that could bring some tropical storm conditions. I'll be watching for any drifts or wobbling as it slows down.
Then it will make its turn and be very close to Bermuda late this week. As far as New England, Nova Scotia, and Newfoundland are concerned... it's still too early to tell if this will be a direct landfall, or if this will brush the coast.
Behind Hurricane Lee, there is Tropical Storm Margot. Margot will stay over water and isn't a threat at this time. This upcoming week, a strong tropical wave will come off of Africa and there is the potential that develops into a tropical storm or hurricane as it gets closer to the Caribbean. Watching closely, for sure!
