- Early this morning around 2:00 a.m. the Modesto Police Department, the California Highway Patrol, the American Medical Response Ambulance Service, and the Modesto Fire Department responded to reports of a vehicle rollover at the intersection of Coffee Rd. and Claratina Ave. in Modesto, California. A vehicle traveling east bound on Claratina Ave. had collided with the barricades at the coffee Rd. roundabout and the rolled into an orchard in the south-east corner of the intersection.
When crews arrived at the scene they found 3 men pinned inside of the vehicle. Amazingly all 3 men were alert and conscience in spite of the severity of the crash.
All Three men were rescued from the wreckage by the Modesto Fire Department and all tho their exact condition has not been released at this time, officials at the scene stated that they expect all three men to survive the crash.

- Early yesterday morning there were 2 brush fires within a mile of each other on Claus Rd. One near Claus Rd. and Floyd Ave. around 4:00 a.m. and the other just prior and just south of that.
Because of the close proximity in time and location the two fires are considered to be suspicious according to the Modesto Fire Department.

- Young Girl Hit By Car In Critical Condition - Modesto News

- Last night at approximately 7:45 p.m. an 11 year old girl was hit by a passing minivan as she attempted to cross the street in front of her house on W. Rumble Rd. near Prescott Ave. in Modesto, California.
The driver of the van struck the girl as he traveled westbound on the road and according to witnesses the van rolled completely over the girl after she was struck.
She sustained severe injuries during the collision including massive head trauma and possible a broken hip. According to the Modesto Police Department she is currently in critical condition after being airlifted to a specialized children's hospital from a local hospital.
According to officials at the scene neither alcohol nor drugs appear to be a factor in the collision however, they did state that it is too early in the investigation to tell if any type of criminal charges will be filled.

- Tonight just before 9:00 p.m. the Modesto Police Department responded to a call of a street fight in the area of Chicago Ave. and Harris Ave in the west side of Modesto, California.
As officers were in the area responding to that call they heard the sounds of several shots being fired very close to their location. They were able to pin point the location of the shots fired by following the sound and then talking with witnesses who were closer to the shots when they were fired.

No further information has been released to the public except to say that he "is improving."

- Armed Man Surrenders to Police After Tense Standoff In Modesto, California - Modesto News

- This afternoon the Modesto Police Department was called to the 3700 block of Coffee Rd. in north Modesto, California to assist in resolving a family fight.
When they arrived they found that an estranged adult son with reported "mental illness" had forced his way into his parents home in an apartment complex while armed with a gun.
The Modesto Police officers were able to quickly get all the family members out of the apartment and while they were setting up a plan to successfully remove the suspect from the house the suspect decided to surrender to police and was taken into custody without further incident.
He was booked into the Stanislaus County Jail on charges related to being a felon in possession of a firearm. The Modesto Police Department also stated they are still investigating and interviewing witnesses and that he may face additional charges as well.

- Today just after noon the Modesto Police Department was called to the area of E. Morris Ave. and Kimble St. in Modesto, California for reports of 3 men seen in the act of burglarizing a home.
The first officer arrived on the scene within seconds of the call and witnessed 3 men fleeing the area in different directions.
More units were called in and the police department quickly established a perimeter and began a yard to yard search with a K-9 unit.
Police too the first 2 men into custody within the first 10 minutes of the search. The 3rd. man was taken into custody over an hour later after the police department had already broken down the search. - Early Monday morning just before 3:00 a.m. the Modesto Police Department was alerted to a burglary in progress by an alarm company at 901 McHenry Ave. in Modesto, California.
The Modesto Police Department went to the scene and surrounded the building. Upon their arrival they arrested a suspect who was on the property with a backpack. He is a man who has had been arrested by the police within the last couple weeks.
The Modesto Police Department found a broken window to the business and contacted the property owner. A key holder of the property came to the scene and police then conducted a thorough search of the entire building to look for any additional suspects. No additional suspects were found.
The man was booked into the Stanislaus County Jail on burglary charges.

- On Friday night just after 9:00 p.m. a Stanislaus County Sheriff's Deputy attempted to make a traffic stop on a pickup truck occupied by three people in an alley way between Rosedale Ave. and Roselawn Ave. just north of Toulomne Blvd. in Modesto, California.
The driver of the truck stopped in the alley however, he immediately jumped out of the vehicle an ran from the deputies. The other two occupants of the vehicle, a man and a woman were did not run and were detained at the stop. Modesto News .org was able to confirm that the male passenger in the vehicle was a parolee at large and wanted by police.
The Modesto Police Department and an air unit were called in to aid in the pursuing manhunt to search for the suspect who had fled.
Soon after the manhunt began police were able to confirm the identity of the suspect who fled on foot. He is Jerry Gardner, another parolee at large who was already wanted by police.

- Highlights of a police chase thru 3 counties today in central california for television use in the nightly news.

During the chase a local reporter from the Central Valley Report was car jacked with his some family members in the vehicle. They were aloud to get out the car after a couple minutes and were unharmed.
However another innocent person was not so lucky during the pursuit. Reports are that during the pursuit the suspect caused an accident which ended up killing someone.

- On Saturday night a Modesto police officer attempted a traffic stop on a man who was riding a motorized scooter down Orangeburg Ave. just east of Oakdale Ave. in Modesto, California.
The suspect jumped off his scooter in the parking lot of Citibank and fled the officer eastbound jumping over fences and running through yards.

- Last night at 8:40 p.m. a car traveling westbound on H St. and a pickup truck traveling northbound on 19th St. collided in the intersection. The pickup truck was rolled onto it's side in the collision.

Officials at the scene confirmed that 5 people were transported to the hospital all suffering non-life-threatening injuries. - This afternoon in Modesto, California fire crews were dispatched to Highway 99 just north of the Briggsmore overpass for reports of a large brush fire on the side of the highway and on the train tracks that parallel the highway.
The Salida Fire Department arrived with a Water Tender and Brush Fire unit and the Modesto Fire Department arrived with 3 additional units to bring the fire under control which had already spread to cover about a mile stretch of the freeway shoulder.
Fire crews were able to contain the fire without any injuries and were on the scene for hours watering down the area to prevent the fire from flaring up again.
Firefighters speculate at this time that the fire may have been caused by a passing train which may have shot off sparks which ignited dry brush.

- Early this morning just after midnight the Modesto Police Department was dispatched to the 1400 Block of Theo Ave. in Modesto, California for reports of a man who was threatening to commit suicide.
When officers arrived they searched the house and the backyard and did not locate anyone. When they were about to leave they heard something in the ally of the residence and when they went to check, they found a man sitting on a chair with a shot gun pointed at his head under his chin.
The officers on the scene radioed for backup and tho they would have been justified in leaving the area to take cover, they risked their lives to stayed near the man in order to talk him down from killing himself.

- Early this morning / late last night, just around midnight, a Stanislaus County Sheriff's Deputy noticed a stolen vehicle be driven on Service Rd. in Ceres, California.
The officer stayed behind the vehicle as the suspect turned onto Mitchell Rd. then onto to northbound Highway 99.
Backup was called and the deputy waited to initiate the traffic stop until all the units were in place including a air unit.
The deputy initiated the stop on Highway 99 as they were interring the Modesto area and for a few minutes it seemed the suspect was hesitating to pull over as he continued down the freeway. The suspect pulled off the freeway onto Kansas Ave. off ramp and pulled to a stop after driving for several minutes.

- Last night just before 9:00 p.m. the Modesto Police Department and the Modesto Fire Department were dispatched to the intersection of Sylvan Ave. and Bridgeford Ln. for reports of a vehicle versus pedestrian traffic collision.
When police arrived on the scene they found that a bicyclist had been hit by a GMC Suburban and had been critically injured suffering severe head and facial injuries.
According to witnesses it appears that the driver of the Suburban was traveling eastbound on Sylvan Ave. and then collided with the bicyclist when he attempted to turn north onto Bridgeford Ave.
The man bicyclist was transported to an area hospital and the crash is currently under investigation. The Modesto Police Department also stated that the driver of the vehicle is cooperating fully with the investigation.

- This afternoon in Modesto, California the Modesto Fire Department was dispatched to reports of a house fire on Virginia Ave. near Needham St. in the downtown area.
Firefighters reported seeing the smoke of the fire from their downtown station when they started toward it.
When they arrived on the scene they found that there was a shed fully engulfed in a fire along with a tree in the alley way between Virginia Ave. and Orange Ave.
The firefighters were able to quickly bring the fire under control before it was able to spread and no injuries were reported and no other structures were damaged. The shed was completely destroyed.

- Today at approximately 4:00 p.m. a man was reportedly chased through the parking lot of 1800 Prescott Rd. on the corner of Prescott and Briggsmore by people with a baseball bat.
In an effort to flee his attackers the man attempted to run across Briggsmore Ave. While attempting to run across he was struck by a large truck and was critically injured. His attackers reported fled the scene and are still at large.

- Today just before noon there was a serious crash, a car versus a big rig tractor trailer on Highway 99 and the Kansas Rd. overpass.

According to the California Highway Patrol Officer on the scene it seems that the driver of the big rig pulled to the side of the freeway to talk on his cell phone. He them pulled back into traffic after his call and while he was still trying to get up to speed the driver of the car crashed into the trailer of the big rig at a high rate of speed. The driver of the big rig was not cited or charged with any crime and it was clear that alcohol was not a factor in the accident.
The driver, and lone occupant of the car sustained serious injuries and was transported to an area hospital. The car was was totaled however it seemed the truck sustained little if any damage.

- Early this morning at around 4 a.m. a call came out to the Modesto Fire Department for an apartment on fire at 301 Standiford Ave. just west of McHenry Ave.

- Late yesterday afternoon a woman was found unconscious in the men's restroom at CF Brown Park in Modesto, California on Celeste Dr.
The Modesto Police Department was called to the scene along with the Modesto Fire Department and American Medical Response medics.
The woman was transported to the hospital by medics and the area was cordoned off by police who collected evidence as a precautionary measure.

Authorities stated that the initial evidence is pointing toward a drug overdose however they stress that they are still in the initial fazes of their investigation and will consider all possibilities before arriving at their final cause of death.
A deputy coroner was called to the scene to take custody of the body.

- Today firefighters were busy in the Modesto, California area as two calls came out bak-to-back for fires which destroyed two homes, one in Modesto, California and one in Ceres, California.
The first call came out this afternoon at 4:48 p.m. for a fire at an apartment complex at 1501 Richland Ave. in Ceres, California. The Ceres Fire Department, The Stanislaus Consolidated Fire Department and the Modesto Fire Department were all called in to bring the blaze under control.
One unit in the complex was completely destroyed and another unit below it suffered water damage.
The second fire call came out at 5:41 p.m. while crews were still working on the first fire. The fire was at 1704 Hammond St. in Modesto, California. One Modesto Fire engine stayed in Ceres to help with that fire while others were dispatched to this fire.

- Last night on Lambert St. just east of El Vista Ave. a call came in to the Modesto Police Department for a burglary in progress reported by neighbors of the house.
Modesto Police arrived on the scene within minutes of the call, surrounded the house, and then entered it to search for suspects.
Modesto News .org was there to capture it all on film and to tell you what happened.
It was obvious that someone had been in the house. However, many details are unclear at this time. According to neighbors the house belonged to a man who had recently passed away so, technically the house is vacant and it is unknown if the person or persons who had made entry wanted to simply squat in the house or burglarize it.
No one was found in the dwelling and the residence was secured by the Modesto Police Department.

- Yesterday afternoon in Ceres, California just south of Modesto, California firefighters were dispatched to reports of brush fires on Highway 99 at the Hatch Road off ramp. When firefighters arrived on scene they found two separate brush fires, one on the side of the freeway very close to some nearby buildings and another fire in the freeway divide that separates the north and southbound traffic.
The Ceres Fire Department received help in putting down the fires from the Modesto Fire Department and the fires were brought under control with no injuries to firefighters or motorists.
As firefighters were still fighting these fires an alert passerby called 911 giving them information that led to the arrest of a man suspected of starting these fires. A Stanislaus County Sheriff's deputy took one man into custody near the fire and after a field investigation conducted by a Modesto Fire Investigator, the man was placed under arrest and will be facing at least two count...

- Five Agencies Battle Huge Barn Fire In Stanislaus County - Modesto News

- Last night at around 9:15 p.m. the Hughson Fire Department was called to the 9000 block of Whitmore Ave. in rural Stanislaus County for reports of a barn on fire. When they arrived they found a barn just feet away from a house that was fully involved in flames. The Stanislaus Consolidated Fire Department, Ceres Fire Department, Turlock Rural Fire Department and Keyes Fire Department were called in to help bring the blaze under control and to save the house it was next to.
Firefighters were able to contain the fire to the barn which was completely destroyed. There were no injuries from the fire and the house was saved.

- Late yesterday afternoon a woman driving south on Carlton Ave. ran a stop sign and crashed into a parked car on W. Granger Ave. When witnesses approached the car they found the woman unconscious at the wheel.

- Late last night a Modesto Police officer called out over the radio that he was in a foot pursuit on Leonard Ave. between Tully Rd. and Kearney Ave.
Several officers started that way to assist in the pursuit and within just a few moments the officer called out over the radio that he had the man in custody and that he was "Code 4."

- Late this afternoon just after 8:00 p.m. The Salida Fire Department was dispatched to reports of a brush fire on Wells Ave. just west of McHenry Ave. and just south of Pelandale Ave.

- Yesterday afternoon a 5 year old boy was hit by a man driving a blue Ford Expedition near the corner of Tuolumne Boulevard and Roselawn Ave. in Modesto, California.
The driver of the vehicle drove off after hitting the young boy. A witness to the crime followed the driver to the 600 block of Briggs Ave. where he witnessed the man park his vehicle and then called the Modesto Police Department.
The Modesto Police Department arrived within minutes and took the man into custody after he was identified as the driver by a witness to the crime.
Modesto News .org spoke with Sgt. Doug Ridenour last night who identified the man in custody as Sacramento Hernandez, a 57 year old resident of Modesto, California. Sgt. Ridenour stated that Hernandez was booked into the Stanislaus County Jail for felony hit-and-run. Sgt. Ridenour also staid that the suspect did not appear to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

- Modesto Police Arrest A Wanted Man - Modesto News

- Early this morning just after midnight the Modesto Police Department received a tip that a wanted parolee at large was in the area of McHenry Ave. and Morris Ave in a green Buick.
The Modesto Police Department followed up on the tip and searched the area. A police officer found a car matching the description parked on Coleman Court near the area with 3 occupants.
The officer called for back-up and when a second unit arrived a man ran the car fleeing into the backyard of a house on Coldwell Ave.
Reinforcements were called including a K-9 unit and the suspect was quickly apprehended in that same backyard.
The suspect who fled ended up being a wanted parolee at large and was transported to the Stanislaus County Jail.
The other 2 people in the car were not arrested.

- Last night just after 9 p.m. Modesto Police were called to the 2000 block of Boulder Creek Dr. in Modesto, California for reports of an unconscious man laying on the sidewalk who had been brutally beaten.
When police arrived they found a man laying on the ground with severe injuries and a crime scene that was both on the street and inside the house he was in front of.
The Modesto Police department detained one man at the scene who was suspected in the beating.
Unfortunately at this time there is no further information available to report.
