Push-In Ceremonies are a tradition dating back to the days of horse-drawn fire wagons. Back in the 1800s, crews had to physically push engines into the station. LVFR proudly keeps that tradition alive as a symbol of teamwork, history and service.
Along with firefighters at the station, Las Vegas Fire & Rescue Fire Chief Fernando Gray, Mayor Shelley Berkley and Councilman Brian Knudsen were also in attendance for the ceremony, and even helped the firefighters push the truck.
Engine 5, a vital addition to our fleet, will be dedicated to serving the residents of Ward 1, one of the heartbeats of Las Vegas.

- City officials recently broke ground on a new Recuperative Care Center to provide more services to those who need to heal from an injury or illness and have no options for shelter.
The city opened the Recuperative Care Center (RCC) in 2021 to provide a safe, stable and supportive place for people experiencing homelessness to heal from a serious illness or injury. The RCC is the only program of its kind in our community. The original facility included 40 beds, and it was quickly determined that more services were needed.
The new facility will be larger and have more than double the current beds and include mental health transition services as well as recovery for those suffering physical ailments. The new RCC is expected to be completed in the third quarter of 2026, and while construction is underway the RCC will be temporarily housed in the Health and Wellness Clinic, located at 314 Foremaster Lane.

Veterans Court is a collaborative approach to help those involved in the criminal justice system, address barriers and provide resources. It is a 12-18 month program that requires regular court appearances, mandatory attendance at treatment sessions and random testing for drug and alcohol use. Participants are linked with programs, benefits, and services through the Veterans Affairs department.
During their time in Veterans Court, these graduates have achieved goals that include finding employment, maintaining stable housing and establishing healthy boundaries with friends and family. They have completed individualized treatment and educational classes to help maintain their commitment to their recovery.
