- Description
- The printers worked overtime at FBI Headquarters so that wanted posters of the 499th and 500th additions to the Ten Most Wanted Fugitives list could circulate.
It's a major milestone for this successful program. Ron Hosko is the Assistant Director of the Criminal Investigative Division.
Hosko: Here we are at number 500 after 63 years. About 94 percent of these people have been located or apprehended and were brought back to justice.
Number 500 was arrested just one day after publicity began. Proof that the success is largely dependent on the media and its consumers.
Hosko: Without the media putting this out, and without the public stepping up seeing something and saying something, this program would fail.
The FBI increasingly reaches out to the public through digital media.
Hosko: The consumers of this information are looking at a smart phone, are looking at something other than a printed piece of paper.

- An alleged child predator is the 500th person added to the FBI's Ten Most Wanted Fugitives list.
A reward of up to $100,000 is being offered for information leading directly to the arrest of Walter Lee Williams.
"I analyzed the computers and the camera that belong to Williams and found child pornography," said Special Agent Jeff Yesensky.
Williams is a former tenured professor at a prominent California university where his field of study was gender development. Williams was also affiliated with the Buddhist Universal Association.
"Because of his status he has the means and access to children, and that's what makes him dangerous," said Yesensky.
Williams' victims are boys between the ages of 14 and 17 -- many of whom live in third world countries.
Yesensky said, "He preys on the most vulnerable children."
If you have information on Williams' whereabouts dial 1-800-CALL-FBI or visit www.fbi.gov.

Mary Rook, special agent in charge of the FBI's Anchorage Division, describes working in Alaska.
So much is different here. It's a huge state. It's you know two-and-a-half times the state of Texas and yet we have a population of 700,000, so they're very spread out. It's hard to get from point A to point B. If you're in anchorage, there are roads to Fairbanks and there are roads down the Kenai Peninsula but other than that there are no roads. So if you want to go to the western part of the state you have to fly. If you want to go to Juneau you have to fly or take the ferry.
I've been told whenever I fly anywhere pack a change of clothes because the weather may not allow you to get back out. And I've found that to be true on a couple of occasions. And then there's the climate of the state. It really is or can be a very harsh environment. And if you'r...

Up to a $50,000 reward is being offered for information leading to his capture.
He was indicted in 2009 on nine terrorism-related charges, including conspiracy to kill American soldiers overseas.
The indictment alleges Abousamra believed there was religious justification for suicide bombings and the glory of dying on the battlefield.
Abousamra sought to attend terrorist training camps in Pakistan. He also travelled with his convicted co-conspirator to Yemen for the same purpose. Both attempts were unsuccessful.
Still, he travelled to Iraq with the hope of joining the insurgence. His activities there are largely unknown.
Abousamra is 5-11 with a thin build and he has a higher-pitched voice. Listen now to a recording of his voice:
If they don't have a warrant they don't have a right to do that. Make sure you tell you mother...
