A directive on collective rights management is expected to be published later this year. With that in mind, the Dutch MEP Marietje Schaake from the Liberal ALDE group and the British MEP from the Conservative ECR group, Emma Mc Clarkin sat around a table with the President of Digital Europe, Dr. Erkki Ormala and the Legal Advisor for Gesac, Victoriano Darias to discuss their views on the much-anticipated directive.

- EUOBSERVER / BOTANIQUE CONCERT HALL / BRUSSELS (16 April 2011) The EU is currently preparing new legislation which will determine how artists receive royalties and are informed by their national collecting societies. This new law will be critical in supporting artists and creativity in the future in Europe. The EUobserver met the indie band Rökkurró from Iceland just after their concert in Botanique in Brussels to find out their opinion on music pirating. They are currently touring Northern Europe.

MATTHIAS VERHELST, a European Roma Policy Coordinator from the European Roma Grassroots Organisation Network thinks this framework is disappointing as it fails to set out any concerted approach to tackle the discrimination of Roma.
