Heidi Giokos speaks to Jenna-Leigh Bilong, a broadcaster, author, pastor and survivor, for a powerful Voices Of Change conversation about sexual abuse, domestic violence, shame, reporting, faith, healing and survivor-informed systems in South Africa.
The conversation asks:
• How does trauma affect a person’s sense of self? • Why do so many survivors carry shame or self-blame? • Why can reporting abuse feel unsafe? • What happens when the system appears strong on paper but fails in practice?
• What should police and first responders understand in the first moments of danger? • Why do women with lived experience need to be part of decision-making? • How can pain become part of a story without becoming the whole identity?
Jenna-Leigh reflects on the invisible cost of abuse, the fear of being judged, and the long work of healing through fa...

The taxi industry is estimated to be worth around R100 billion and is one of South Africa’s biggest black-owned economic forces. But it also faces major criticism around violence, intimidation, killing competition, poor commuter treatment and weak regulation.
In this episode, Tsebe explains SANTACO’s plans to modernise the industry through cashless systems, corporatisation, driver registration and formal labour practices. Nkepile challenges him on whether drivers really have full labour rights, whether taxi operators pay tax, and whether OUTA’s estimate of a possible R2 billion annual tax contribution is fair.
The conversation also tackles taxi violence, the belief that competition is “taken out”,...

Oil prices have fallen sharply after news of a proposed US-Iran peace deal raised hopes that the Strait of Hormuz could reopen and global oil flows could begin to normalise.
Gareth Edwards and Francis Herd unpack why the market reacted so strongly. During the conflict, oil had climbed as high as $126 per barrel. At around $83, the price is now roughly $43 lower than that wartime peak.
But the relief comes with a warning.
Francis explains that nobody has fully seen the peace deal yet, and the details still matter. Even if the Strait of Hormuz reopens, oil will not automatically flow at pre-war
levels overnight. About 10 million barrels per day were unable to move through the region, and experts are still warning that a supply crunch could come.
For South Africans, the big question is what this means for fuel prices. If oil holds near these ...
