Running since October 2014, the APP has been expanded over time in duration, size, and composition.

(1) The interest rate on the main refinancing operations of the Eurosystem will be decreased by 5 basis points to 0.00%, starting from the operation to be settled on 16 March 2016.
(2) The interest rate on the marginal lending facility will be decreased by 5 basis points to 0.25%, with effect from 16 March 2016.
(3) The interest rate on the deposit facility will be decreased by 10 basis points to -0.40%, with effect from 16 March 2016.
(4) The monthly purchases under the asset purchase programme will be expanded to €80 billion starting in April.
(5) Investment grade euro-denominated bonds issued by non-bank corporations established in the euro area will be included in the list of assets that are eligible for regular purchases.

- The European Central Bank (ECB) is participating in Luminale, a light show that takes place every two years in Frankfurt.
The light show will be held every day from 20:00 to midnight from 13 to 18 March.
Both the ECB’s main building by the river Main and the Eurotower in the city centre will be illuminated by a “symphony” of light consisting of bars, lines and circles – primarily in blue and yellow, the colours of the European Union. It will be based on Ludwig van Beethoven’s Prelude to the Ode to Joy, the European anthem. The euro symbol will be projected onto the south facade of the main building and will be visible to passenger planes on approach to land at Frankfurt airport.

- On 29 November 2015 the European Central Bank opened its doors to its immediate neighbours in Frankfurt Ostend, who had the opportunity to learn more about its mission and values. A series of activities run throughout the day, like presentations on the ECB’s role and function, Banking Supervision, the building’s architecture or the Euro banknotes and coins, two interactive workshops and educational activities for children. The guests could also visit the new Euro exhibition on the ground floor (than can be visited until 29 February 2016) and learn more about our money in an interactive way as well as participate in one of 25 guided tours around the building.
The first ECB open doors event was marked by a positive and relaxed atmosphere. The neighbours were happy to learn more about the ECB, see the building from the inside and, above all, get in touch with European staff of the ECB. The latter were glad to introduce their “house” and their work.
