- Prince George is pictured in his new Eton College uniform after arriving for his first day at the school accompanied by his proud parents, the Prince and Princess of Wales.
The 13-year-old second-in-line to the throne is seen in three brand new pictures showing him wearing the traditional Eton uniform, which consists of a black tailcoat, waistcoat, pinstripe trousers and a white bow tie.
The snaps, released by Kensington Palace, came just hours after George smiled as he walked up to the historic school buildings alongside mum Kate and dad Prince William, where they were greeted by Eton headmaster, Simon Henderson.
“Welcome,” Mr Henderson told him. “Good luck. Enjoy it.” William, in a matching outfit to his son, carried a closed umbrella while Kate, wearing a green dress, held one aloft against the seasonal back-to-school drizzle. William then made a joke about the weather saying: "If it rains, it rains for ages", with Sir Nicholas remarkin...

- Ed Miliband has accused the Israeli Government of turning a blind eye to "ethnic cleansing of Palestinians" in the West Bank as he announced an import ban on goods from illegal settlements.
The Foreign Secretary said for the first time that the British Government regards the occupation of the West Bank as "unlawful". Israeli settlements in the West Bank are illegal under international law but numbers have sky-rocketed in recent years.
In a statement to MPs, Mr Miliband announced an import ban on produced exported from illegal Israeli settlements, which includes products like dates, mangoes, avocados, grapes and herbs, as well as olive oil and kosher wine.
The UK will also slap sanctions on companies and individuals providing services such as infrastructure, financing or real estate for the expansion of settlements.
Arms licences that contribute to the occupation will be refused, he said. Advertising for illegal settlements in the UK w...

Mr Healey and PM Andy Burnham are keen to show the government intends to bring down the public borrowing mountain, which has been thrown into sharp focus by a recent spike in bond yields on global markets, with the UK particularly exposed.
In the Commons today Healey took aim at Reform UK's Robert Jenrick, stating: "Reform are making promises they simply can't keep", before reminding him that his party leader Nigel Farage once described him as a "man who believed in nothing".

It came into UK waters from Cherbourg, near the ferry crossing for Portsmouth, rather than using the usual route from Calais into Dover, Kent. They were saved by lifeboat rescuers who returned to find a group of men in a boat shouting: “How do you feel bringing illegal migrants into this country?”

The session saw him face 125 questions in a three hours and 24 minutes session, which the Makerfield MP completed without using notes.
During the debate, he hit out at the legacy of Margaret Thatcher, the austerity era, and vowed to end the “failed economic model” that had left parts of the country be...

- Andy Burnham and Kemi Badenoch have clashed over the Prime Minister’s spending commitments, as the Conservative leader said Mr Burnham needed to be a “leader not a people-pleaser”.
Mrs Badenoch had asked Mr Burnham during his three-hour, 23-minute statement in the Commons on Tuesday if he had denied a spending request. In turn, he said he was committed to bringing down the welfare bill
He said: “I do not want to be a Prime Minister that sees a situation where we have so many people in their 20s not in education, employment or training.
“I can’t defend that, and I want to change that by giving more support to young people so that we start investing in their success rather than paying for failure, as we have done for many years under successive governments.”
Mrs Badenoch replied: “He did not say no to a single spending request, and personally I think it’s delightful that he wants to make everyone happy but a Prime Mini...

The Reform UK leader returned to Parliament, on Tuesday, and took an oath before the Commons after his Clacton by-election win - which he triggered himself. Farage marked his Westminster return by posting a 37-second video of him walking on the roof of Parliament on social media.
The Reform leader rambled about the "extraordinary" building and Big Ben "bonging" behind him but it has been revealed Farage did not seek permission to record there.
Permission is required from parliamentary authorities for photography or filming on the estate but the roof is sensitive due to safety and security.
A House of Commons spokesperson told the Mirror: "Unauthorised photography or filming is not permitted on the Pa...

As of Monday, Cleveland Police had arrested 27 people as part of their investigations since the horrific collision on August 22. Around 200 police officers from outside the force have been drafted in to help the force tackle organised crime.
In a statement to the Commons, Ms Mahmood said: "Clearly, the events of recent days have placed exceptional pressure on Cleveland police, and I can confirm today that the force has received additional resource under mutual aid arrangements, which has seen officers deployed to Cleveland from aroun...

- Andy Burnham has paid tribute to Keir Starmer's “lifetime of public service” during his first statement to MPs.
The new Prime Minister hailed Mr Starmer's service particularly in "fighting for justice”, including for Hillsborough families. His statement in the chamber comes just hours after his predecessor said he'd resign as an MP.
During his Commons debut, Mr Burnham admitted “Britain is not where any of us would wish it to be”, as he blasted Brexit and austerity for "ushering in a decade of low growth and stalled regeneration".
But he sought to strike a note of hope, as he told MPs that “people are looking for much more substantial change” to bring down the cost of living. He spoke about his commitment to easing the cost of living crisis for families across the country, pointing to the measures he brought in at the start of his premiership, from VAT to bus fare cuts.
The former Greater Manchester mayor also outlined m...

- Keir Starmer is to step down as a Labour MP after resigning as Prime Minister earlier this summer.
The move is expected to trigger a by-election to replace him as MP for Holborn and St Pancras. The timetable for choosing candidates will be set out in the coming weeks.
Mr Starmer announced he was standing down from Parliament in an interview with local paper, the Camden New Journal. He said that after leaving No10 at the end of July, he had reflected on the future and that he was ready to “pass the baton to a successor”.
His announcement came hours before Andy Burnham was due to make his first appearance as PM in the House of Commons. The former Greater Manchester mayor became Labour leader after no viable challenger emerged, paving his way to replace Mr Starmer in Downing Street in July.

- Description
- Former gang boss Duane 'Keffe D' Davis has been convicted over the murder of hip hop legend Tupac Shakur three decades ago.
It took a Las Vegas jury only three hours to agree that Davis was guilty of first-degree murder with a deadly weapon with the intent to promote, further, or assist a criminal gang in the killing of Shakur.
Monday's deliberations, which followed closing arguments - which also took place earlier on Monday - came after nine days of testimony from detectives, former gang associates and documentarians.
The trial has revisited the night nearly 30 years ago when Shakur was shot while on his way to perform at a club in Las Vegas.
Davis is the only person ever charged regarding the 1996 fatal shooting of Shakur near the Las Vegas Strip. Prosecutors did not allege that Davis himself fired the shots that killed Shakur, instead accusing him orchestrating the killing.

- Rajendra Dawadi was inside his classroom when the school's accountant rushed in with a warning: Floodwaters were racing through Nepal’s Trishuli Valley, tearing apart homes, bridges and entire villages.
Then a teacher received another warning by phone. Moments later, a parent arrived to take her child home. The danger had not yet been confirmed, but Dawadi had little time to act. He rang the school bell and ordered his students and staff out of the building and toward higher ground.
“I immediately decided to stop ... school and (get the children out),” he told The Associated Press.
As he followed them to a nearby hill, the floodwaters rose behind him. From the safety of the hillside, he turned to watch the school where he had once been a student — and where he had spent years teaching — disappear beneath a torrent of water, mud, boulders and debris. Two staff members could not make it and remain missing.

- President Donald Trump announced on Thursday that he would rename one of the five Great Lakes of North America.
While speaking to reporters at the Oval Office, the president said he and his team had filed all of the necessary paperwork to rename Lake Ontario as Lake America, "effective immediately."
Lake Ontario is bounded on the north, west, and southwest by Ontario, and on the south and east by New York. "This is official," said Trump, after signing an executive order. "We filed all the necessary papers, documents, notified all the people we have to notify."
The news comes as tensions continue to grow between Canada and the U.S. on trade relations. "The United States is giving serious consideration to changing the name of Lake Ontario to Lake America," Trump wrote on Truth Social earlier this week, rationalizing the change because "we don’t expect to be doing much business with Ontario any longer."

The 96.2% partial eclipse is expected to start at 0233GMT and reach its peak at 0412GMT. Solar and lunar eclipses happen due to a precise alignment of the sun, moon and Earth. The eclipses tend to follow each other, taking advantage of a sweet spot in the celestial bodies' orbits. Friday's partial lunar eclipse comes just over two weeks after a dazzling total solar eclipse.
