- Mackenzie Shirilla was sentenced to prison after being convicted of murder for deliberately crashing her car into a building in 2022, killing her boyfriend, Dominic Russo, and friend, Davion Flanagan. During sentencing, emotional victim impact statements were read by the victims’ families as prosecutors argued Shirilla intentionally drove at high speed moments before the deadly crash. The judge ultimately sentenced Shirilla to 15 years to life in prison, calling the crash a “mission of death.”

- 23-year-old Kayla Hodgson was found stabbed to death in her Tamarac, Florida apartment on July 13, 2022. Investigators traced flight records, surveillance footage, and a fake Uber account to Sakiyna Thompson, a Queens, New York woman who was jealous that her ex-boyfriend had started a new relationship with Kayla. Thompson flew to Florida, showed up at Kayla's door at 5 a.m., and carried out a brutal attack before changing into the victim's clothes, attempting to clean the scene, and fleeing back to New York. She was arrested three weeks later, convicted of first-degree murder in October 2025 after just one hour of jury deliberation, and sentenced to life without parole.
