Cette journée est aussi l’occasion de rendre hommage aux donneurs d’organes et à leurs familles, et de remercier tous les professionnels de la transplantation, dont le travail remarquable dans toute l’Europe contribue à sauver des vies et à améliorer la qualité de vie de nombreux patients.

- Secretary General of the Council of Europe, Thorbjørn Jagland met Ukrainian President Poroshenko and Foreign Minister Klimkin in Kiev on 2 September 2014. Talks focused on the situation in the country, in particular in eastern and southern parts, human rights and humanitarian aid and the Council of Europe's assistance towards reforms in the country. A particular area of concern is the military conflict and the worsening situation of the civilian population.
