- As the 90th Goodyear Cotton Bowl is about to kickoff at AT&T Stadium, one tradition continues to shine just as brightly as the big game itself—the Cotton Bowl Art Contest. Now in its 27th year, the art contest blends the excitement of college football with the creativity of young artists across North Texas. Each year, more than 10,000 entries pour in from students in grades 1 through 6, showcasing their talents.
The contest isn’t just about art—it’s about creating unforgettable experiences. - Work is progressing at the Northeast Branch Library, where important facility upgrades are underway to improve accessibility, comfort and durability for library visitors and staff.
The Northeast Branch, located at 1905 Brown Blvd., is undergoing improvements that includes repairs to the accessibility ramp, roof replacement, window replacement and a new front entrance door, all designed to extend the life of the building and enhance the patron experience. To accommodate construction activities, there will be a temporary partial closure of the parking lot on the west side of the property. In addition, handicap parking and ramp access have been adjusted to the east side of the building to ensure continued accessibility while work is underway.
Despite these changes, the library remains open and is accessible to the public. This project, approved by Arlington voters in the 2023 Bond Election, is expected to be complete by February 2026.

- The Lights at Interlochen, one of the largest and longest running holiday traditions in North Texas, is back for the 2025 season! Each year, nearly 200 homeowners in this northwest Arlington neighborhood celebrate the season by decorating their homes with festive lights and holiday-themed displays. Admission is free.
The public is invited to drive through the neighborhood from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. nightly Dec. 13 through Dec. 25, 2025. This year is the 50th anniversary of the spectacular neighborhood display, which draws an estimated 100,000-plus visitors from across the Dallas-Fort Worth-Arlington region. People magazine ranked the Interlochen Lights display No. 8 on its list of top 10 Christmas light displays in America in 2024.

Lawson, a captain for Arlington Cheer, has spent four years on the squad and served on student council since fifth grade.
“Desirae embodies exactly what I would want a Colt Cheerleader to embody,” said Olivia Miller, Arlington High School Head Cheerleading Coach. “She is not only a great cheerleader and a great leader on our team, but she’s also great in the classroom.”
After she graduates, Desirae plans on attending the University of Texas and major in Pre-Physical Therapy.
