Forget about having a white wedding, this couple had a wet wedding, with the bride wadding down the aisle to say, “I do”.
Leian Lieza Galang and Gilbert Chico tied the knot in hip-deep floodwater inside the Saint John the Baptist church in Hagonoy town, north of Manila, on Tuesday.
The couple were advised to postpone their special day after severe flooding submerged the town in August with monsoon rains causing 34 deaths across the country, but they didn't want to delay their nuptials.
Footage of the ceremony shows the bride, in a white gown and clutching a bouquet of matching flowers, wading down the aisle as murky floodwater sloshes around her.
The church had been partially underwater for nearly a month.
Wedding photographer Mikko Rey Alfonso told AFP: “They love each other. Nothing could stop their union.”

A swimming instructor has told how she was left “dripping blood everywhere” after being attacked by an otter while swimming in Lake Tahoe, Nevada, last week.
Lynnette Bellin, a certified infant swimming resources instructor, was at Hidden Beach, on the East Shore, when the mammal attacked.
“Oh my god. I had to climb up the rocks to get to the bike path, because the otter was circling and I was scared to death to get back in,” she explained in a social media post about the incident at a place she has swum at, without incident, for 25 years.
“So now I’m just freaking out all the people on the bike path because I’m dripping blood everywhere. I didn’t even know there were otters in Lake Tahoe.”
In a later post, written from the emergency room, Ms Bellin said she had been swimming for about 30 minutes when “I felt something grab my leg”.

This one involved an emu.
In a video that has since gone viral, a rookie officer is seen pursuing the flightless bird along a country road in New South Wales.
The unusual pursuit began after Central West NSW police received a number of calls about the bird – the second tallest in the world – running across Cargo Road in Nashdale and blocking traffic.
Chief Inspector David Ambercrombie said the “keen, young” officer took what he thought to be the best approach with the bird – he chased it.
“I’m just lucky it wasn’t me,” the inspector said, adding: “My speed would not be up to scratch.”
After the ‘catch me if you can’ scenario played out, the officer manged to move the Emu on without ruffling any feathers.
No one was harmed in the incident, and it remains unclear where the emu came from, or ran off to.

A policeman has been stood down after shooting a pet donkey called HeeHaw after it supposedly approached him while braying.
Cedartown police, in Georgia, were searching for a missing child when the incident unfolded in Polk County, at 12.45am on Sunday.
HeeHaw’s owner, Hannah Israel, said her small male donkey emerged braying at the presence of strangers at Elsberry farm in Rockmart and was shot dead by an officer who claimed he felt under threat. Police had reportedly already tried to Taser HeeHaw.
Following a public outcry, the officer was placed on leave and an inquiry launched by the Georgia Department of Agriculture Law Enforcement.

The abnormality meant Harry was at risk of volvulus, a potentially life-threatening complication of malrotation that occurs when the bowel twists, cutting off the blood supply to that part of the bowel.
He also developed intestinal failure-associated liver disease (IFALD), a progressive liver condition caused by years of receiving an intravenous form of feeding to manage his condition.

- ► Kolawole Erunkulu had been driving his taxi for 12 hours straight when he swerved across a carriageway and crashed into a parked car killing the driver.
Footage from Erunkulu’s car shows him nodding off on the A23 in Surrey shortly before 6.30am on 17 August.
His Audi then swerved across the carriageway and collided with the driver of a Volkswagen, Philip Dray, who was parked at the side of the road.
Mr Dray parked in a layby for a break and was opening his driver’s door to climb back into his vehicle when he was struck by Erunkulu.
The 59-year-old died at the scene.
Data from Erunkulu's employers and his interior car camera showed he had been driving for around 53 hours over the three days leading up to the collision.
His longest rest period between drives was three days beforehand, for just hours.
Other breaks included one of approximately four hours and two of around two hours.

CCTV captures the moment the rider drives through an intersection in the Colombian city of Guadalajara de Buga and then collides with the passing bus.

In a remarkable story of survival, a 94-year-old has been found alive in Nepal – the only survivor from a care home that was swept away by flash floods that have claimed at least 469 lives.
In what may become one of the defining images of the tragedy, the woman is seen being carried in the bucket of a digger, then in the arms of a rescuer.
The pensioner is reportedly the only surviving resident or staff member from a government-run care home in Rasuwa, which was swept away by the wall of water and mud.
Rescuers used the digger to plunk her from debris before taking her to the Kathmandu Trauma Centre.
Because of the shock of her ordeal, and her dementia, the woman was unable to speak, even to provide her name. Exactly how she survived, may never be known.

In CCTV footage released by Humberside Police, Joshua Smith is seen approaching a prison in Hull and attempting to throw a package containing Class A drugs and a mobile phone.
The problem is, he can’t quite get it over the wall.
Police received a report that the 30-year-old was attempting to get the package into the prison on 11 July 2025, with a prison guard inside the facility “witnessing the parcel falling over the wall”.
The package was then seized, “leading to the discovery of an estimated £12,000 of drugs including class A drugs and a mobile phone”, Detective Constable Heather Butler said.

- ► A castle keep has been moved by hand in Japan.
The 360-tonne structure – a fortified tower within a castle – had to be moved to repair a wall damaged by an earthquake. Rotating teams of 80 people heaved on 30-metre ropes as the keep of Hirosaki Castle in Aomori prefecture edged closer to its destination over the weekend.
Around 1,800 people joined the effort. On Saturday, the keep was moved 1.13m and a further 1.09m on Sunday.
In order to preserve the structure, a technique known as hikiya – whereby buildings are put on rollers and moved rather than dismantled – was used.
Pulling the keep by hand will continue until the end of August, with about 4,100 people scheduled to move it 5m in a major community effort.
The last 73m will be carried out using machinery by the end of the year.

Maison Turner-Potter, 11, is fighting for his life after being diagnosed with a rare and aggressive form of cancer two months ago. The cancer has spread to the 11-year-old's groin, head, neck and spine and he has a 20% chance of beating it.
Oscar Steers, who is the same age, met Maison on his first day at school in Chichester, West Sussex and they’ve been mates ever since.
With the help of his mum, Oscar set up a fundraising page and is running a mile every day for 30 days to gift his friend the best treatment available.
As of Tuesday evening, £72,571 had been donated.

Funding has been granted to Greater Manchester, the West Midlands, West Yorkshire, South Yorkshire, North East England, and Liverpool to build 20,000 homes.
A additional £6bn was previously announced for London.
It is the first part of a wider plan to build 300,000 social and affordable homes, under the government's £39bn social housebuilding programme.
Tuesday’s announcement covers £10bn of that.

In recently released bodycam footage, officers are seen arriving within minutes to reports of a suspected burglary on Mitcham Road, Tooting, at 3.12am on 17 July, and arresting Laurentiu-Daniel Nitisoara in a nearby alleyway.
After searching the area, officers track down a second man, Ioan Asafeti, hiding on a rooftop.
During a search of a massage parlour the pair had broken into, officers “uncover their plan to tunnel through a wall into the neighbouring jewellery shop” along with tools and equipment “to dig the hole”.
A third member of the group, Sergiu Plastin, was arrested later that day, as he tried to flee the country.
