⛈️ Thursday (May 8):
Scattered severe thunderstorms are expected from the mountains to the coast of NC and SC. The most active window is 2 PM to 10 PM ET.
Main threats:
Damaging wind gusts
Large hail
A few storms could become supercells, forming in the mountains and moving east.
Along the coast, a few storms near the sea breeze could also produce brief strong winds or hail.
🌩️ Friday (May 9):
A lower—but still present—risk of isolated strong storms, mainly between 2 PM and 7 PM ET.
Threats include gusty winds and hail, especially across the Piedmont and Coastal Plain.
Storms will be more scattered and less intense than Thursday.

IBHS collaborated with four member companies and local officials to conduct a post-event damage investigation and internal claims studies to quantify the impact of a catastrophic hail event on homeowners and insurers.
