- Description
- In his latest Brussels Signal commentary, Konstantinos Bogdanos shares his analysis about the ongoing Ukraine war.
As the conflict drags into another year, the so-called “fortress belt” in the Donbas region is increasingly under pressure, with long-term strategic consequences for both Ukraine and its Western supporters.
Beyond the frontlines, the video explores a broader geopolitical concern: Europe’s strategic fatigue. With multiple global crises unfolding simultaneously—including tensions in the Middle East and shifting US priorities— the commentary argues that Ukraine is no longer the sole focus of Western attention.
The video also raises uncomfortable questions about the future of Western support. If political priorities in Washington continue to shift, and if European unity weakens under economic and political strain, what comes next for Ukraine, and for Europe’s security architecture?
Konstantinos Bogdanos argument is that continuing w...

“I have long believed in European values, in the idea that when the EU speaks about freedom and democracy, it truly means it,” Beglaryan said. “But at this moment, I observe that for European leaders these values seem to matter only when they are used as a tool to pressure countries with different geopolitical agendas. I would be happy to have a country with genuine European and democratic values and institutions, as well as just, dignified, inclusive and sustainable peace with Azerbaijan.”

- Lebanon, Israel, and the State Question: Why Conflict Keeps Returning
- Runtime
- 1:17
- Date posted
- Description
- Why has conflict between Lebanon and Israel recurred over the decades?
One perspective argues that the weakness of the Lebanese state—particularly during and after the civil war—created space for armed non-state actors, including Hezbollah, to operate independently. Cross-border attacks and retaliatory actions contributed to repeated escalations.
At the same time, Lebanon’s internal political system—shaped by sectarian power-sharing and deep diversity—has made governance more complex. Identity politics, foreign influence, and regional rivalries have all played roles in limiting the state’s ability to fully assert control over security and defense.
This video explores that argument while acknowledging the broader historical context: competing narratives, regional tensions, and the challenges of managing sovereignty in a highly diverse society.

- Description
- What does Lebanon's future actually look like — from someone living it right now?
In this episode, we sit down live in Beirut with Hadi Damien, Lebanese podcaster and academic for a raw and deeply informed conversation about the forces that have shaped and continue to threaten Lebanese sovereignty.
Born in 1989, the year before the end of Lebanon's brutal civil war, Hadi grew up navigating Syrian military checkpoints, witnessing political assassinations, and coming of age during the Cedar Revolution.
Is Hezbollah really a Lebanese movement or an Iranian proxy?
Hadi breaks down how Hezbollah was founded through a decree from Khomeini, how its former Secretary General Hassan Nasrallah publicly declared allegiance to Iran's Supreme Leader, and why the EU's distinction between a "political wing" and a "military wing" is according to him, a dangerous fiction that has allowed Hezbollah to run financial operations across Europe.

- This video breaks down a critical and often misunderstood moment in global geopolitics.
The speaker analyses current U.S. strategic actions and explains why the situation may be far more fragile and dangerous than it appears. With tensions centered around the Strait of Hormuz a chokepoint through which roughly 20% of the world’s oil flows—any escalation carries global consequences.
Key themes explored:
Rapid escalation risk: Modern conflict could unfold at unprecedented speed, with devastating consequences overnight.
A potential “Suez moment”: Like the Suez Crisis, the outcome may define long-term global power not just short-term military success.
Strategic uncertainty: Even with a clear plan, results are not aligning with expectations.
Misread assumptions: Comparing this situation to past U.S. successes—like in Venezuela may be deeply flawed.
Regional complexity: The Middle East, and especially Hormuz, presents far greater str...

Rather than predicting *specific* outcomes, the discussion focuses on key strategic dynamics such as deterrence, energy politics, migration *pressures*, and shifting military balances. The goal is to better understand how fragile regional equilibria *may* become under major structural changes in the global security architecture.

- Orbán lost, of course, for purely external reasons as well. The key factor was the public’s weariness with a single team having been in power for 16 years. In Poland, after eight years of either Tusk’s or Kaczyński’s governments, the feeling emerged that it was too long. The Hungarians, however, are more composed; for historical reasons, they are better able to function within institutional frameworks, so they were not quite so impatient. A long period in power also means mistakes and blunders that accumulate and eventually build a grand coalition for change. Prime Minister Orbán could have prevented this as recently as two years ago, for example by replacing key politicians within his own camp. But he did not decide to do so, or perhaps he could not. And then it was already too late.
