- The only grocery store on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation is closed because of food safety concerns. Tribal President John Yellow Bird Steele says, "The service they're providing was in several ways not good in that they deliberately sold bad meat to the people. I've had ongoing complaints about the hamburger, the outside looking good, but the inside all brown." Oglala Sioux Tribal President John Yellow Bird Steele obtained a court order against the Sioux Nation Shopping Center last Friday. An Indian Health Service inspection revealed several critical violations in the meat department.

- The building is a total loss. Now, the Battle Mountain Humane Society in Hot Springs, SD is left with the question... where to go from here? The blaze ripped through the building Wednesday afternoon on Highway 385 north of Hot Springs. A board member for the society says five to eight animals were lost in the fire but many more survived since they were outside. About 90 animals were displaced, but accommodations for those animals have already been made. Now, the humane society is in need of supplies and food since everything was destroyed. - Five young men are facing a slew of charges after prosecutors say they went on a crime spree that stretched across Rapid City.
Tuesday those five were arraigned in court, all pleading not guilty to the charges against them, including first degree robbery and attempted first degree burglary. Prosecutors say the five were involved in the armed robbery of a Rapid City convenience store, an attempted home break--in and a police pursuit. 22--year old Cassidy Grosz, 21--year old Matt Wright, 21--year old Hebrew Audiss, 19--year old Shauvon "Joseph" Tobacco and 18--year old Adam Poor Bear are all facing lengthy prison terms with Wright facing the most time, at 110 years. - Stricter rules are now in place at a popular cliff jumping spot at Sheridan Lake.The Black Hills National Forest has passed an order that bans alcohol on the land adjacent to the Dakota Point Picnic Area and the Dakota Point Trail head. A Resource Staff officer with the Forest Service says they'd been looking to ban alcohol at Dakota Point prior to an accident last year that killed a 17--year old boy who fell from the cliff. Alcohol was believed to be involved in that incident.
