- Bereaved families of Covid-19 victims have begun painting a mural in central London to remember their loved ones. The mural will be made up of almost 150,000 hand-drawn hearts and is expected to stretch more than a kilometre long when finished.
Organisers said that, despite its location on the south bank of the Thames opposite the Houses of Parliament, the memorial wall was not meant to be “political or antagonistic” but provide a “visual representation” of every life lost.
It has been co-ordinated by the campaign group Covid-19 Bereaved Families for Justice.

- Artist Stephen Wright has been turning his ordinary terraced house in East Dulwich into a work of art since 1998.
He calls it the House of Dreams and thinks of it as a museum which is a diary of his life.
He collects and recycles colourful items from his travels around the world and embeds them in the walls to create a highly colourful psychedelic grotto of plastics, glass, broken ceramics and damaged toy dolls amongst lots of other unlikely mementos.
During lockdown he’s taken the opportunity to expand upon his work of the last 23 years and of course to document his experience of the pandemic.
He says it’s an ongoing project which will never be finished, but will be left to the National Trust upon his death.

- Description
- It has been a year. Twelve months in which thousands of Londoners lost their lives, lost their loved ones, lost their jobs, their health, their social circle, their daily routine.
A year of stiff upper lips and Blitz spirit and singing happy birthday while washing hands, and not singing happy birthday when it's actually someone's birthday.
A year of exercising in the living room, of teaching the kids maths, of meeting your mates at the pub by drinking at the computer and pretending not to look at yourself on camera.
A year of wearing a mask like it's an ordinary thing to do. Using phrases like "herd immunity" and "flattening the curve"; "social distancing" and "R numbers".
A year to accept that people would die too soon. And to anticipate the desolation of grieving alone.
This is a year of Londoners in lockdown, a BBC London special programme.

But after an incident involving a dog attack, Freddie was taken to South Essex Wildlife Hospital in Tilbury where he was treated for a bite on his flipper.
X-rays revealed Freddie suffered a broken bone, dislocation as well as damage to his joints, ligaments and nerves, which resulted in the decision to put him down for welfare purposes.
The British Divers Marine Life Rescue (BDMLR) is urging people to be careful around wildlife near the Thames.
