- A doctor at Queen’s hospital has demonstrated a breathing technique to help coronavirus patients with respiratory symptoms. Dr Sarfaraz Munshi initially recorded the video for his friends and family, but it went viral after being posted YouTube, reaching more than 3M views.
The technique involves taking five deep breaths in, holding your breath each time for five seconds. On the sixth deep breath, do a big cough. Repeat that cycle once. Then, lay flat on your front and breath slightly deeper for then minutes.
There is no scientific evidence to suggest this technique helps coronavirus patients, but it is recommended by the Director of Nursing at Queen’s Hospital.
Author JK Rowing tweeted that the video helped her recover after she displayed symptoms of Covid-19.

- Description
- Britain is often called a "melting pot" of culture. Each ingredient could represent a different way of life. But what if they do not mix together? And instead the ingredients just sit there, waiting to be cooked?
When Stephanie noticed nobody in her friendship group was white, she began to question if Britain was really multicultural.

- Description
- In the wake of combatting recent terror attacks in the capital, the need to keep us all safe is becoming more urgent. Emergency legislation that’s just been passed will keep terrorist offenders in prison for longer. But on their release, is enough being done to deradicalize individuals who are still a potential threat?
Hanif Qadir, one of the world's leading specialists in reforming dangerous extremists, asks what went wrong in the recent London Bridge and Streatham attacks, and how these violent fanatics managed to slip through the net.

- How an abandoned Tube station is heating London's homes - BBC London
- Runtime

- Description
- If you've travelled on the London Underground you'll know how hot it can get. But what if the stifling air could be put to good use? At Islington's derelict City Road Tube station, a huge fan extracts warm air from Northern Line tunnels and sends it to an energy centre above ground.
It is used to heat water that's pumped to 1,350 homes, a school and two leisure centres. Transport for London claims the Bunhill 2 Energy Centre is the first of its kind in the world, and is assessing whether 56 other ventilation shafts have potential for exporting waste heat.

- Description
- Rich Ellis and Emily Dent have had two separate experiences of baby loss. They are using their stories to open up the conversation in both the male and female communities of baby bereavement.
They believe more services should be in place for psychological aftercare for parents who have suffered with losing a child.
Now, Guys and St Thomas' hospital have teamed up with the baby loss charity, Petals. New funding has been provided by maternity services to enable these counselling sessions to extend across London.

- How a Croydon Hut Changed Air Travel Forever - BBC London
- Runtime
- 1:08
- Date posted

- Description
- The number of commercial flights rapidly increased after World War One, leading the British government to demand a way of managing the skies. The first air traffic control tower was established inside a wooden hut at Croydon Airport in south London.
It became the world's busiest airport at the time, with a dozen flights to Paris and Brussels each day. Now up to 8,000 flights cross UK airspace every day, which are managed by National Air Traffic Services.
Croydon Airport closed in 1959, but air traffic control is still essential for keeping the skies safe.

Moeed Majeed was just 19 when he was diagnosed with Crohn's disease and now he has a stoma bag. Since then he has found it very hard to find accessible toilets in London.
The project London Loo Codes wants to change this by collecting the codes from businesses across the city that charge for toilet use.
Caroline Russell has also bid for £18m to be invested in free toilets in the mayor's budget.
