This is the latest turn in the immigration lawsuit Rokita first filed in November 2025 against the district. At the time, IPS called the case “silly litigation and political posturing.”
Rokita continues to argue IPS is violating the state's anti-sanctuary law because the district currently prevents staff from collecting students' immigration status.
In a new court filing dated Oct. 26, the attorney general asked the court to make IPS notify staff they are allowed to collect and maintain immigration information about students. Rokita also wants the district to train staff on the forms of information gathering and maintenance allowed. The judge has not yet ruled on Rokita's requests.

It's where DC Blox plans to build its data center. The city's Metropolitan Development Commission approved it this summer.
"I've been very adamant that our townships just aren't getting the investment that they need to grow and thrive," said Councilor Michael-Paul Hart, who represents District 20.
He believes the project will bring in money the area needs with the site's tax abatement proposal.
"We are consistently seeing things leave the East Side, but we're not seeing that reinvestment, and what we have today is an opportunity to bring that back some of those investments back," Hart said.
The data center will generate $27.6 million in estimated taxes paid during the ten-year abatement period, according to Hart.

The incident happened at the Chili's Bar & Grill in Forest City, North Carolina, on Wednesday, Oct. 28, according to the Foothills Health District.
Three customers suffered chemical burns after drinking the margaritas, the health department said. Two employees also suffered symptoms related to the exposure.
Officials said the drinks were prepared with a cleaning chemical mistaken for sugar. Investigators learned that an employee placed a granulated degreasing chemical in an unlabeled container. According to investigators, the container was brought inside the restaurant and left in the bar area.
