"Cookie Queens" introduces four young girls as they uncover the joys, pressures and tensions surrounding one of America's most cherished observances: Girl Scout Cookie season.
"My kids had wanted me to make a film that they'd really want to recommend to their friends, so that was the sort of spark," said Nahmias, who wasn't a Girl Scout herself while she was growing up. "I started to think about it as not just a visually interesting, totally entertaining world of young women and customers and all the different walks of life, but also a way to think about a microcosm for the culture and economy and how kids are taught —and specifically girls — are taught about our place and our value in the economy."
"Cookie Queens" is now in theaters nationwide.

- Hours before the most powerful people in the state of Indiana walk through the doors of the Indiana Statehouse and the city slowly wakes up to the light of a new day, one Hoosier has likely already been in the building for hours.
For 11 years, Tony Brooks has walked the halls of the Statehouse, many days on his way to a tall wooden door on the fourth floor.
It’s easy to miss if you don’t know where to look, but Brooks knows right where it is.
He’s been on the other side of it, too many times to count, climbing steps, 238 of them, up a spiral staircase, an ascent the 59-year-old Indianapolis native has made countless times.
Even with the sound of his sneakers hitting each step, Brooks' journey is a silent one.
“At two years old, I got sick with mumps and became deaf,” Brooks explained through an interpreter, who uses American Sign Language to speak for him.
