But now that he’s been indicted as an adult on charges of murder and aggravated sexual abuse in Kepner’s November 2025, cruise ship death, federal prosecutors want a judge to review or revoke his release.
In a motion filed Monday in the United States District Court Southern District of Florida, federal prosecutors said the evidence presented during the 16-year-old defendant’s juvenile hearing demonstrated, the alleged conduct involved the most serious, egregious, and violative crimes one person can inflict upon another.

The Tampa Police Department posted body camera footage of officers as they responded to an intruder call at about 3 a.m. ET on March 29, WFLA reported.
“He’s huge,” one officer can be heard on the body cam footage as they approach the screened-in patio and realize the “intruder” was a large reptile.
“We’re gonna guide him into this pool if we can,” an alligator trapper tells the officers in the footage.

For the first time, the Florida Department of Transportation has revealed a timeline for the major construction projects in the Moving I-4 Forward plan.
In April of 2025, the Florida Department of Transportation opened its congestion relief lanes on I-4 from U.S. 27 to World Drive.
“It’s really life-changing relief for our commuters,” said Will Watts with FDOT.
Watts says that’s the goal of the entire $2.5 billion Moving I-4 Forward Plan.
In a Central Florida Expressway Authority meeting, he explained FDOT is focusing on 14 miles of I-4 between Osceola and Polk counties. The five projects will add two new express lanes in each direction from west of U.S. 27 to east of World Center Drive and State Road 536.

“To put my message on the same plane as what the president has attempted to do here, I think is not understanding what the message of the Gospel is,” Leo told The Associated Press aboard the papal plane en route to Algeria. “And I’m sorry to hear that but I will continue on what I believe is the mission of the church in the world today.”
History’s first U.S.-born pope stressed that he was not making a direct attack against Trump or anyone else with his general appeal for peace and criticisms of the “delusion of omnipotence” that is fueling the Iran war and other conflicts around the world.

Experts identify global instability, especially the ongoing conflict with Iran, as a key factor behind rising oil prices and higher gas prices at the pump.
For many residents of Florida, the effects are felt quickly and painfully. Drivers around the region are experiencing higher costs as filling their tanks has become much more expensive compared to just a few weeks ago.
Currently, at least one state legislator is advocating for action. Miami Senator Shevrin Jones has written to Governor Ron DeSantis, urging him to consider suspending or reducing Florida’s state fuel tax. Jones contends that this could offer immediate financial relief to residents facing increasing expenses.

The structural shift prompted more than 350 residents to evacuate the apartments located on Sand Lake Road.
Engineers are now investigating the cause of the gap, specifically looking to see if a sinkhole or other soil issues may have caused the void.
The report explains that the primary gap opened between the concrete slab propping up the building and the soil underneath two specific stacks, 45 and 47.
While that void is the most significant, engineers identified smaller gaps in several other locations throughout the property.

“Renters insurance coverage is going to vary by carrier,” said insurance expert Tom Cotton, the Executive VP of Arthur J Gallagher.
But Cotton notes most renters insurance will cover what’s called catastrophic ground cover collapse. That’s what most people think of as the large visible sink holes that can s...

The Florida Highway Patrol reported that the vehicle was traveling southbound above the posted speed limit when the driver lost control. The vehicle struck an electric pole, breaking it in two, then overturned and collided with a house at the corner of South Hawthorne Avenue and West Ella J. Gilmore Street. Speeding is believed to have contributed to the incident.
The two occupants inside the home escaped without injury.
Pastor Sabrina Jones, observing the crash from her front porch, remembered seeing a blue Honda Civic speeding by a few moments earlier.

- The Lake Mary apartment complex that had 85 units closed off due to safety concerns earlier this week is now facing 540 code violations after inspectors tore through the property, looking for unpermitted work.
Pebble Creek at Lake Mary was hit with 20 violations per building, ranging from work done without a permit to decaying staircases and other facility issues.
The violations came hours after engineers released a report claiming a fire weakened one building’s wall so badly that it was in danger of collapse. 53 staircases were deemed structurally unsound, and nearly every second-floor balcony and walkway was also flagged for a mound of deferred maintenance.
Engineers were seen combing through the buildings on Thursday, testing some of the stairs and inspecting walls for integrity issues.
The complex will have to wait for those reports to be completed before it can ask for permits from the county. Work cannot begin until those perm...
