- In this special off-season edition of the NNY Capitol Report, we go behind the scenes of a major, years-long project to restore the New York State Capitol's Eastern Approach. The 77-step granite staircase built in the early 1890s has been structurally unsound for most of it's life, and fenced off from the public for over a decade. Now, state officials are working to restore it and the park around it by 2029.
