Officers attended the vast remote reservoir - which is the largest and most isolated of the Elan Valley dams - following a call from a member of the public who had seen a body in the water just before 8.30am. It is estimated the man’s body could have been in the water since the summer, such was his decomposed state.

Despite a much improved performance from Wales, the 27-18 defeat at the Principality Stadium was still their 15th loss in a row, meaning that, incredibly, they haven’t won a game since the pool stage of the 2023 World Cup.

- In the end, the result was as anticipated, but the performance from Wales was a far cry from what we've seen in recent times. Simon Easterby’s side, aiming for a Grand Slam, were pushed to the brink by a determined Welsh team who, at times, tested Ireland’s resolve.
Ultimately, Ireland’s superior power and experience saw them through, with contributions from the bench—most notably Bundee Aki—proving decisive. The half-back pairing of Jamison Gibson-Park and Sam Prendergast were exceptional, with Prendergast’s kicking game demonstrating a level of variety that Wales lacked when it mattered most. While the Welsh side showed significant promise, it was the control and composure under pressure from the Irish half-backs that ultimately made the difference.

- taff are in shock today after Cardiff University announced plans to shed 400 jobs amid cuts to degree courses. Vice-chancellor Professor Wendy Larner said degree courses and academic schools including nursing, modern languages, music, ancient history, translation, religion, and theology were among those proposed for closure in a 90-day consultation.
The university announced on Tuesday that it was planning to cut academic headcount by around 400 full-time equivalent posts, which amounts to 7% of its total workforce. Compulsory redundancies will be used "only if absolutely necessary". Ancient history, modern languages and translation, music, nursing, and religion and theology subjects will be dropped and some schools will be merged. Joey Whitfield, lecturer in Hispanic studies and University and College Union (UCU) chair at Cardiff University, said: "It is very bad. People are in shock and very distressed."
