The $221 million first phase of the project on the complex's west side would turn the 600,000 square feet of vacant buildings into a hub of activity with apartments, restaurants, recreation, business innovation, a year-round farmers market and more that would generate millions of dollars in property taxes for the city.

- On Tuesday, August 7, 2017, workers with Fort Wayne's Deep Rock Tunnel project apply a concrete lining to keep rocks in place in a shaft about 220 feet underground. Groundwater continuously seeps through the wall. By November, a borer named MamaJo will cut through the limestone to create a 5-mile tunnel between Dwenger/Glasgow avenues and Foster Park. The $200 million project will create a tunnel to collect and move sewage from the combined-sewer system to the sewage treatment plant rather than allowing it to overflow into the city's three rivers.
