- Over 84 years, Chennai’s Kodambakkam has transformed from a landscape of studios and film laboratories into the heart of a rapidly changing digital cinema industry. The filmmaking process has moved from expensive 35mm film, physical editing and reels to digital cameras, computer-based post-production and modern distribution. Theatres, too, have evolved from single-projector halls with multiple intervals to multiplexes and IMAX screens. The story traces how technological change reshaped the way Chennai makes, edits, screens and experiences cinema.

- Why Urvashi was Bengaluru's best single screen
- Runtime

- Description
- Urvashi Cinema, one of Bengaluru’s most iconic single-screen theatres, is set to close its doors after 50 years. For generations of filmgoers, it was more than just a theatre — it was a place where first-day-first-shows, fan celebrations, whistles, cheers and countless movie memories came alive.
Urvashi has screened several blockbusters of #ShahRukhKhan, #Yash and #Rajinikanth. It was once a go-to-place for big #Hollywood movies. As Bengaluru continues to change, the closure of Urvashi marks the end of another chapter in the city’s rich single-screen culture. This is a small tribute to a theatre that remained a favourite among movie lovers since 1976. #bengaluru #cinematheatre #movies #karnataka

- Description
- 'Loser', 'dictator', 'King of bankruptcies', those were some of words Ontario Premier Doug Ford used to describe U.S. President Donald Trump on August 24, 2026, as part of a war of words amid an escalating dispute over U.S. tariffs.
Asked whether Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney had urged him to soften comments after Ford earlier said Trump could "kiss your ass," the premier doubled down. "I have a lot of real estate on my ass, so he has a lot of room to kiss my ass," Ford told reporters in Hamilton, Ontario.
Trump had earlier derided Ford as "the less charismatic, intelligent, and overall unimpressive brother" of late former Toronto mayor Rob Ford, while accusing Canada of taking advantage of the United States.
Ford responded by calling Trump "a loser" and "a bully," saying he would not be intimidated by the U.S. president's criticism or tariff threats. He said Canada must stand up to Washington's trade pressure rather than back do...

- Description
- The Election Commission of India (ECI)’s Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls has seen allegations of bulk filing of applications seeking to delete voters’ names from draft lists using Form 7 in Rajasthan, Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh and, more recently Uttarakhand. Ground reports by The Hindu from Karnataka, Rajasthan and Gujarat noted that these forms were often filed in bulk fraudulently using names of people who were unaware of the filing. In several instances, hundreds of objections were filed under a single person’s name. Form 7 is filed to object to an existing name — or to request its deletion — on the electoral rolls for reasons such as death, shifting, or ineligibility.

This was in solidarity with the students who protested at Jantar Mantar over the NEET paper leak. On August 13, the Bar Council of India issued a directive to all State Bar Councils not to enrol students who graduated from that batch, but withdrew its order the same day. Chief Justice Kant, also criticised the BCI's directive. The fiasco has brought a spotlight on the existing space for dissent in leading law universities in India.
