The court has directed him to surrender within two weeks and submit a surrender certificate by September 22, before his appeal against the 10-year prison sentence can be listed for hearing. The case dates back to 2013, when a junior colleague accused Tejpal of sexual assault inside a hotel elevator in Goa. In August 2026, the Bombay High Court overturned his 2021 acquittal, convicted him and sentenced him to 10 years of rigorous imprisonment.

A new research paper has found a worrying link between traffic noise exposure and dementia, and also cognitive impairment.
The paper, titled ‘Association of road traffic noise exposure with dementia or cognitive impairment – A systematic review of longitudinal cohort studies’, has been co-authored by Emil Basil Scaria and Nisha Dhanda, and was published on PLOS Global Public Health earlier this year.

The video, apparently from a CCTV camera, shows Ms. Aishwarya slapping Ms. Savitha, who is standing next to her at the temple, prompting an immediate response from the officer, who strikes back.
An argument had broken out between the MLA’s daughter and the police officer over the former’s attempt to enter the temple’s sanctum sanctorum. Soon after the exchange turned physical, bystanders stepped in and separated the two.
