As we head into November’s election, voters consistently say that crime is a top issue. Sixty-three percent of Americans said that crime was “extremely or very serious” in the country, according to the annual Gallup survey released in November. And many people believe that the kind of initiatives pushed by advocates of criminal justice reform are to blame.
Nowhere is that debate more passionate than in San Francisco, a city where everything from shampoo to gum is under lock and key at Walgreens and signs hang in parked cars that read: “Please do not break into this car. No valuables here.” Fully fifty percent of stores in the city’s downtown have shuttered because of theft.
That’s why we convened Michael Shellenberger, Seneca Scott, Kmele Foster, and Lara Bazelon for a debate in front of a sold-out house.

The 20-year-old Israeli singer sits down for her first in-depth interview since performing amid death threats and jeers: “I turned it into my power.”
Amid the Israel-Hamas War, a campaign was mounted to boycott Eurovision for allowing Israel to participate. Over 1,000 Swedish musicians, including the pop star Robyn, signed a petition calling for Israel’s exclusion. In Finland, 1,300 artists signed a similar petition. Bars here in New York announced they wouldn’t screen the competition in protest. Israel was forced to revise their song after its original entry, “October Rain,” was deemed too political by the EBU. This was all before anyone took to the stage.
Despite calls for boycott, 163 million people tuned in to Eurovision this year to watch Golan and the other performers. She placed fifth, and snagged the number two spot when it came to the public vote.

As Sheryl watched the horrors of October 7 unfold, she was sure that everyone would rally against these unspeakable atrocities—particularly after the reports of sexual violence and rape committed by Hamas started coming in. When she saw that people did not, in fact, rise against it, and worse—when people began denying that it even happened—she was stunned. Sheryl was particularly stunned that many of her would-be allies—prominent feminists and progressives in this country and around the world—stayed silent.
This led her to make a documentary about the sexual violence of October 7 called Screams Before Silence. Sheryl described the film as the most important work of her life, which is saying something considering her substantial résumé.
When people think of Sheryl Sandberg, they think of a girlboss, corporate feminism, and coastal politics—wearing a power suit and campaigning for...

Two years ago, Russia invaded Ukraine. It was the largest military attack on a European country since World War II. Reliable casualty figures are hard to come by, but U.S. intelligence officials estimated last August that as many as 200,000 Russians and Ukrainians had been killed in he conflict, with an estimated 10 million people displaced.
Congress has allotted n $175 billion in aid for Ukraine since the war began.
But our guest today, former Russian MP Ilya Ponomarev, says that we need to do more than merely send aid. He insists that it is imperative to topple Vladimir Putin’s regime altogether. And he is actively working to do just that.

The first episode of Seinfeld aired in 1989. Thirty-five years later, the show remains at the apex of American culture. People speak in Seinfeld-isms, they flirt on dating apps over Seinfeld, they rewatch old episodes of Seinfeld when they’re feeling down. And, in the case of the Weiss family, Lou still watches it every night from 11 pm to 12 am on the local Pittsburgh station before he goes to sleep. People around the world even learn English watching Seinfeld!
But now, during a time that is supposed to be the most inclusive, the most sensitive, the most accepting, and the most tolerant time in human history, Jerry Seinfeld is targeted for being a Jew.
You’ve probably heard or seen Jerry somewhere recently—from The New Yorker to GQ to… every podcast in the world. That’s because he has a new movie out called Unfrosted, which you should definitely go watch on Netflix. It’s hilarious...

Poll after poll indicates that immigration is the top issue for voters in the 2024 election—more important than inflation or the economy. Americans left and right agree that our system is broken. But how do we fix it?
That is the subject of the first installment of our America Debates series. We convened Ann Coulter, Nick Gillespie, Sohrab Ahmari, and Cenk Uygur in Dallas for a deeper discussion about immigration. Some of what the debaters said may offend, but we believe you should hear them out regardless.

Growing up, Mosab embraced his father’s ideology and was arrested by Israeli authorities multiple times, starting at age 10, for crimes like throwing stones at Israeli settlers and purchasing guns. But during a stint in Israeli prison in the late 90s, at age 18, he became an Israeli informant.
Eventually, he became Israel’s most valuable intelligence asset, foiling suicide bombings and other terror attacks. Mosab has since been outspoken about Hamas and radical Islamic terrorism more broadly.
For a while, Mosab stopped doing press and lived a quiet life in California, but on October 7, Mosab decided to speak out again against the terrorist group he knows all too well. Since then, Mosab has been publicly supportive of Israel’s war to remove Hamas from power.
