- Internet-famous political satirist and presidential candidate Vermin Supreme visited the Athens courthouse Friday to promise students free ponies and mandatory toothbrushing.
Supreme is a perennial presidential candidate and has run as an independent Republican, Democrat and most recently as a Libertarian in 2020. His speeches consist mostly of nonsense and so do his outfits.
Friday, Supreme donned his famous boot on the head, a blue T-shirt, jeans, a sparkly American vest that had seen considerable wear, about six or seven ties and a green, white and purple tutu.

- The time is 8:03 p.m. on April 29. It’s a typical Saturday at The Union, 18 W. Union St., as four bands are set to play and the doors for the night’s show just opened. A small handful of people are already trickling in, saying, “hello” to twin brothers Paul and Weston Nern of local band Rent Free. The band’s bassist, Michael Wells, is on his way to the venue. Wells, a senior studying music production, is graduating the following weekend, effectively making this show the last time Rent Free will be on a stage together for the near future.

- Buddy's Lounge prioritizes 'high-quality' cannabis products

- Buddy's Lounge, located at 10 S. Court St., came to Athens in February. Since then, the store, which sells Delta 9-THC, HHC and CBD products, has steadily increased in popularity among Athens residents and Ohio University students.
Nick Marie, the owner of Buddy's Lounge, said all products are compliant with the 2018 Federal Farm Bill, which allows him to sell everything legally. After visiting several farms, Marie decided to source his products from three farms in Pennsylvania.

- The Alpha Gama Delta sorority at Ohio University hosted its 2nd annual "AGDillas" on Tuesday, April 18th. The sorority sold cheese quesadillas with a side of salsa and sour cream for just $6, with proceeds going to support AGD's mission of fighting hunger in southeast Ohio.
