- The time is 8:03 p.m. on April 29. It’s a typical Saturday at The Union, 18 W. Union St., as four bands are set to play and the doors for the night’s show just opened. A small handful of people are already trickling in, saying, “hello” to twin brothers Paul and Weston Nern of local band Rent Free. The band’s bassist, Michael Wells, is on his way to the venue. Wells, a senior studying music production, is graduating the following weekend, effectively making this show the last time Rent Free will be on a stage together for the near future.

- Buddy's Lounge, located at 10 S. Court St., came to Athens in February. Since then, the store, which sells Delta 9-THC, HHC and CBD products, has steadily increased in popularity among Athens residents and Ohio University students.
Nick Marie, the owner of Buddy's Lounge, said all products are compliant with the 2018 Federal Farm Bill, which allows him to sell everything legally. After visiting several farms, Marie decided to source his products from three farms in Pennsylvania.

- Take Back the Night, an annual event aimed at supporting sexual assault survivors and dismantling the system that perpetrates violence hosted by Ohio University’s Women’s Center, took place at the Athena Theater last night with a large outpour of attendess of both OU students and the Athens community.
Not only were all the seats filled, but so was the floor, with people making their own seats in the aisles. The audience was attentive, listening raptly to the keynote speakers as they talked about their own journeys and the general public’s views on sexual assault in the modern era.

- WATCH: Lori Stewart Gonzalez to serve as OU’s 23rd president

- Lori Stewart Gonzalez was selected to serve as Ohio University’s 23rd president by the university’s Board of Trustees on Wednesday.
Gonzalez will serve as OU’s first female president in its 219-year history and will begin her work as president July 1 following the departure of current OU President Hugh Sherman. Sherman was appointed to a two-year term in 2021 with a plan to retire at the end of his term on June 30.
