- "Boats Need To Be STOPPED" | Labour MP RIPS Into Burnham: 'Andy's Missed The Point'
- Runtime

- Description
- A record 230 people have crossed the English Channel in a single small boat, the largest number ever recorded on one vessel.
The overcrowded inflatable was described as “buckling” in the water by French rescuers, highlighting the increasingly dangerous tactics being used by people-smuggling gangs.
The record comes despite a significant fall in Channel crossings overall. More than 15,000 people have crossed so far in 2026, down 43% compared with the same period last year, with the government pointing to increased disruption of smuggling operations.
Kevin O'Sullivan is joined by Labour MP Graham Stringer, to discuss this.

- Political commentator Samara Gill has accused Andy Burnham of being “way out of his depth” over his response to the small-boats crisis.
Samara dismissed the pledge to pursue people smugglers “relentlessly” as “just tosh”, arguing that targeting the gangs would fail to stop increasingly large vessels crossing the Channel.
She also condemned the suggestion that middle-class communities should “play their part” by accepting more asylum accommodation, describing the approach as “putting a Band-Aid over a bullet hole”.
Samara said: “Day by day, [the boats] get bigger and bigger, and he’s not doing anything about it.”
She added: “Andy Burnham is way out of his depth now."

- Arts Council England has come under fire after handing more than £30,000 in National Lottery funding to a queer reworking of Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet.
Romeo & Hamed, written by Scott Horgan, follows a romance between a British man and a Muslim refugee. The modern adaptation is due to hit the London stage in September.
Defending the award, an Arts Council England spokesperson said: “We support a wide range of artists and organisations to produce work that caters to the broad interests, tastes, voices and experiences of people across the country.
“Projects can often explore different issues through their work, including social and political subjects.”

Sturgeon has hit back at Cherry’s memoir and their personal feud has become increasingly bitter.

- The Critic’s deputy online editor Tom Jones has criticised proposals for more affluent communities to “play their part” in accommodating asylum seekers.
The discussion followed reports of a record Channel crossing involving approximately 230 people aboard a single vessel. Presenter Mike Graham argued that targeting people-smuggling gangs would not resolve the crisis while demand for crossings remained high.
Jones accused the Government of turning asylum accommodation into a class issue rather than producing a credible plan to deter illegal crossings.
He said: “Making a class issue of this and almost blaming middle-class people for not doing enough is disgusting.”

Transport for London says cameras will be deployed at selected Tube stations to identify people on police watchlists, including suspects wanted in connection with sexual offences, robbery and knife crime. Images of passengers who do not match the watchlist will reportedly be deleted immediately.
Speaking to David Bull, Norman acknowledged that the technology could help protect passengers and catch dangerous offenders, but stressed that robust regulation and independent scrutiny were essential to prevent abuse.
He said: “One of the great challenges is the balance of power between the state and the individual. I think we’re giving the state potentially too much power.”

- Britain has already spent more than £1 billion this year paying wind farms to switch off when the electricity grid cannot carry their power to where it is needed.
David Bull attacks Ed Miliband’s obsession with net zero and asks why households are being forced to fund a system that switches off cheap wind power before paying expensive gas plants to generate replacement electricity.
Octopus Energy’s head of policy Jack Pardoe says Britain is operating under electricity-market rules that are decades out of date. He argues that regional pricing could reduce wasted energy, lower bills and stop the benefits of renewable power being “gobbled up” by wind-farm owners.
They also discuss Octopus Energy’s solar-eclipse scheme, which will reward participating customers for reducing their electricity use between 6pm and 8pm.

After the interview, Bull reads a listener’s warning that illegal immigration, the trans-rights row, “two-tier policing”, rising taxes, benefits, antisemitism and net zero are pushing Britain towards civil unrest.

She argued that expensive treatments risk worsening health inequalities if they remain unavailable through the NHS, while patients could be given false hope by publicity surrounding so-called “magic pills”.
The pair also discussed England’s progress towards eliminating hepatitis C, praising clinicians and community healthcare teams for treating more than 100,000 people since 2015.
Dr Mukherjee said: “As exciting as this is as an alternative option, people should be very mindful about what we don’t know.”

- An inflatable boat that crossed the Channel carrying a record 230 migrants was “buckling” in the water and could have led to a tragedy, French rescuers have warned.
The French lifeboat crew based at Berck-sur-Mer said the dingy was 15m (49ft) long, and already carrying around 50 passengers when it was spotted heading towards a beach to pick up more.

- ‘Detain Every Man Woman And CHILD’ | Henry Bolton Says 'Only TOUGH Policies Will Work'

- Description
- French sea rescuers warn there may be “no limit” to the number of people smugglers will pack onto increasingly large inflatables after a record 230 people crossed the Channel aboard one 15-metre vessel.
Peter Cardwell speaks with international security and border-control expert Henry Bolton, who says criminal networks are using larger boats and new launch points as enforcement intensifies around Calais.
Bolton argues that Britain will remain a target while migrants believe they can stay and calls for everybody arriving by small boat—including families with children—to be detained until they can be removed or choose to return.

- ‘Lots Of People Support Reform UK GENUINELY’ | Polls Suggest Nigel Farage Declining In Popularity?
- Runtime
- 6:30
- Date posted
- Description
- Lord Ashcroft’s latest survey places Reform UK third on an implied 18 per cent vote share, behind Labour on 27 per cent and the Conservatives on 23 per cent.
Peter Cardwell speaks with Conservative peer and polling analyst Lord Hayward, who says the result is probably an outlier but warns that Reform has been losing ground for several months.
He argues that some voters continue to treat Reform as a protest party and says Nigel Farage’s declining personal popularity is closely tied to its fortunes. They also discuss Kemi Badenoch’s improving ratings, the Andy Burnham bounce and whether weakening party loyalties could produce a hung parliament at the next election.
