"We categorically reject and dismiss the baseless claims made by SPLA IO regarding the recapture of Borchar tank. These assertions are fabricated and lack any credible evidence to support them. Our military forces are in full control of strategic positions, and there has been no such recapture by SPLA IO," SSPDF deputy spokesperson, Col. Garang Ateny Alier.

The Chairman of Bor Community association Worldwide Dr. Angok Gordon Kuol has released statement directing youth in jonglei state to rise up and defend their land amidst the growing fears of conflict in the state.

January 14, 2026, the SPLA-IO, led by Brigadier General John Puot Gatjiek Liem and deputized by Colonel Kuash Gatluok Kai of the 4th Division B, defected to SSPDF in Leer town, the hometown of Suspended First Vice President Riek Machar.
