An online industry has emerged in China that helps people create “wealthy” personal profiles on social media platforms. For as little as one yuan (US$0.15), customers can buy staged photos and videos that depict a life of luxury – from first-class travel and gourmet meals, to playing golf or skiing. While some customers say projecting this type of online persona can help boost their business profile and increase their chances of romance, lawyers warn of the legal risks involved.

Executive chef Luo Chenglin, from Beijing’s Yangzhou Banquet restaurant, has long served up dishes for Beijing’s diplomatic guests. Diplomatic banquets traditionally feature Huaiyang cuisine, but the menu on May 13, 2026, included Peking duck and beef ribs – a nod to Trump’s preference for well-done steak.

North Korea has removed references to “national reunification” from its constitution and has newly defined its territory as land bordering South Korea. Analysts said the move may signal Pyongyang’s intent to avoid direct conflict with Seoul. The constitutional overhaul is widely seen as aligning with the North’s evolving stance towards its neighbour – shifting away from reunification and towards a more formalised state-to-state relationship.
