A 51-year-old man of Shamabanse area in Kabwe has been found dead after he reportedly took his own life following a police call-out.
The incident occurred early this morning after the man was instructed to report himself to Bwacha Police Station in connection with an alleged assault involving his wife and another man.
According to information obtained by PTV2 Zambia, the deceased had earlier been contacted by officers from the Community Crime Prevention Unit (CCPU).
In a telephone conversation between the CCPU and the man, which was accessed by PTV2 News, he reportedly expressed distress about the situation and suggested that he felt unable to face the matter.
Authorities are yet to issue a detailed statement as investigations into the incident continue.

Seven people have died in Kabompo District of North-Western Province after consuming a dangerous mixture of methylated spirit, Super Dip, and cola.
Sources in Kabompo say the incident began when a local businessman, known for brewing traditional beer, attempted to experiment with producing alcohol using methylated spirit mixed with Super Dip and cola. The mixture was reportedly shared among several individuals, leading to severe poisoning.
Some of the victims were rushed to Solwezi General Hospital for emergency medical attention.

Murder suspect Sharon Malata has reappeared before the Kasempa Subordinate Court for another mention in the case in which she is accused of killing Friday Mulauzi, a Detective Chief Inspector who served as a Criminal Investigations Officer with the Zambia Police Service in Kasempa.
During the court session, Legal Aid Board lawyer Mr. J. Kalimina applied for a preliminary inquiry, a process that allows the court to determine whether the matter should be committed to the High Court of Zambia for summary trial.
Presiding magistrate Mr. Evans Yikona has reserved his ruling on the application, with the decision expected on 30th March 2026.

A 30 year old Taxi driver of Chingola District has been shot dead leaving his friend in a critical condition after they were shot at by an unidentified man during a drinking spree.
The incident occurred around 22:00 hours on March 6, 2026, at Natmos Trading area, along Kabundi road.
Copperbelt Province Police Commanding officer Mwala Yuyi has confirmed the incident in a statement and identified the deceased as Gift Chilambe.

Last night he however confirmed to Prime TV's Paul Shingongo that he has since changed his mind and will instead stand in Malambo Constituency of the Eastern Province but opted not to state his reasons for his sudden change of mind.
In 2021 he got 35,752 votes against his closest rival Thomas Sipalo who got 30,585. The PF losing candidate in 2021 Patrick Samwimbila who is now a UPND member has since announced his intention to stand in Munali on the UPND ticket.
