- A South Los Angeles market was heavily damaged and looted early Sunday morning during a street takeover near San Pedro Street and Manchester Avenue.
The incident occurred at approximately 4:45 a.m. on August 30, 2026.
According to information from the scene, suspects used tools to cut through locks and a steel roll-up door before breaking the market's front windows to gain access. Once inside, the crowd reportedly forced its way through additional doors to access liquor and other merchandise.
Two cashiers were inside the market when the burglary occurred. Neither employee was injured.
Video from the aftermath shows extensive damage and merchandise scattered throughout the store as employees worked to clean up the mess left behind. Tire marks were also visible across the nearby intersection following the reported street takeover.
Employees said the market would remain closed Sunday while the damage was cleaned up.
