- Description
- Resorts World New York City launched live table games on Tuesday, becoming the first full-fledged casino in the five boroughs.
The facility in Queens is now offering more than 200 of the games, including blackjack, roulette, baccarat and craps.
It was already operating as a video casino, with more than 2,500 slot machines. Local elected officials and hip-hop icon Nas, who is a partner in the casino, were at a ceremony held Tuesday morning to kick off the expansion.
Resorts World was one of three city proposals given a coveted downstate gaming license. The other proposed casino developments — Metropolitan Park near Citi Field in Queens and a Bally’s project in the Bronx — are expected to open after several years of construction.
State officials estimate that the three casinos will generate about $7 billion in tax revenue over the next decade.

- CUNY staff say conditions have reached a breaking point
- Date posted
- Description
- Several dozen CUNY staff members rallied outside Brooklyn Borough Hall on Wednesday, joined by elected leaders, to call out what they described as unsafe conditions following years of underfunding and delayed repairs. Protesting CUNY faculty and staff say repair problems at their schools aren’t isolated — they’re happening across the City University of New York system. In March, CUNY officials testified to the City Council that about one-third of campus buildings are in good repair. CUNY is requesting about $600 million a year in capital funding to bring more buildings into a state of good repair by 2028.
