- Special weather briefing for extreme heat wave moving in over the Inland Northwest.
- Runtime
- 28:17
- Date posted
- Description
- An unprecedented heat wave will move in over the Inland Northwest for the end of June and into early July. Temperatures of 105 to 115 will be common in the valleys across the region during the peak of the event early next week. There's a good chance that all time temperature records will be broken at numerous locations. Little in the way of relief is expected as well with low temperatures cooling down only into the 70s. This will be an extreme event with the potential for widespread heat related illness/strikes/fatalities possible. Taking precautions such as drinking plenty of water, limiting outdoor activities, and seeking air conditioned spaces will help to mitigate these dangers. Heat of this magnitude is much more extreme than our typical heat waves that is experienced in the Inland Northwest.

- Blowing Dust Friday Satellite 10/30/2020 (Details in Description)
- Runtime

- Date posted
- Description
- Friday's winds lead to an episode of blowing dust and some ash (from the Pearl Hill wildfire burn scar) that stretched from the Waterville Plateau in Washington to the Idaho Panhandle.
This loop of the GOES-17 shows the swath of blowing dust/ash starting to develop a little before 10:00 a.m. Friday (around 1651-1656 UTC) as winds started to pick up behind the cold front. This is indicated by the "pink" plume emerging near the Douglas/Okanogan County. By 10:30 a.m. (1730 UTC) it began to emerge near and north of Moses Lake in Grant County too.
The dust was somewhat localized until about 11:00 a.m. (1800 UTC) when it started to really expand out, as indicated by the areas of the "pink" plume spreading eastward as indicated in this loop. It spread across Lincoln and southern portions of it bordering counties (Ferry, Stevens and Pend Oreille) as well as northern Adams county, and finally came into Spokane, northern Whitman and Kootenai county after midday (1...
