Minnesota's Runoff Risk Advisory Forecast
- Title
- Minnesota's Runoff Risk Advisory Forecast
- Date posted
- Description
- Runoff Risk decision support tools help farmers and producers avoid nutrient applications shortly before runoff is expected based on real-time NOAA/NWS modeling. Avoiding applications before runoff events will retain more nutrients on the landscape and reduce nutrient transport into nearby water bodies which could reduce the occurrence and size of Harmful Algal Blooms (HABs) and hypoxic zones.
Runoff Risk is a collaborative effort between NOAA/NWS and participating states. There are currently four states with active tools (version 2): Minnesota, Wisconsin, Michigan, and Ohio. Find quick links to these tools on this webpage: runoffrisk.info.
The Great Lakes Restoration Initiative (GLRI) has been vital in supporting the development and collaboration required for these tools to be successful.
