The new Parliament came along with a major political shakeup, ushering in fresh faces while several seasoned and outspoken legislators failed to retain their seats. Among those exiting the August House is former Kira Municipality MP Ibrahim Ssemujju Nganda, widely known for his sharp debates, vocal criticism of government and commanding presence on the parliamentary floor. NTV’s DAVID IJJO caught up with the outgoing legislator to reflect on his parliamentary journey and discuss life beyond Parliament.

- What began as a closed-door crisis meeting in a Rukungiri hotel is now threatening to spill onto the streets, after dozens of National Resistance Movement (NRM) mobilizers accused Senior Presidential Advisor on Agriculture Peace Rugambwa of withholding over 200 million Shs in unpaid campaign allowances from the 2026 General Election campaigns. The disgruntled mobilizers, drawn from 12 districts across southwestern Uganda, say they were recruited to canvass support for President Museveni and NRM flag bearers but were abandoned after completing the gruelling 15-day door-to-door exercise—claims Rugambwa has dismissed as a calculated smear campaign aimed at tarnishing her name.#NTVNews #NTVTonight #NTVWeekendEdition

However, Charles Mudiwa, the Managing Director of DFCU Bank, cautioned leaders against treating AI as a replacement for human judgment and accountability, noting that the technology should instead be embraced as an enabler that strengthens decision-making while preserving leadership responsibility.

- Runtime

- Description
- The Bank of Uganda has held interest rates steady as policymakers weigh resilient domestic growth against mounting risks from global energy markets and geopolitical instability. At a press conference this afternoon, the benchmark lending rate was kept unchanged at 9.75%, with officials noting that inflation remains contained for now, even as higher oil prices and currency pressures threaten to complicate the outlook. Governor Michael Atingi-Ego stated that the economy remains on track for strong growth this year, driven by robust consumer demand, industrial activity, and a recovering private sector credit. However, officials warn that renewed volatility in global markets could still test that momentum.
