Description: A 14-year-old boy died in the early hours of Saturday after the motorcycle on which he was travelling as a pillion rider collided with a horse along the Number 50 Public Road, Corentyne, Berbice.
Dead is Giresh Lautan of Number 52 Village, Corentyne, and a former student of Skeldon Line Path Secondary School. His mother, Anita Taman told reporters that she was at home when her sister’s husband, Deon Rodney, arrived around 1:00 hours and took Lautan to accompany him to Number 43 Village, where Taman’s sister resides. Taman said she only learnt of the accident around 6:00 hours, by which time her son had already been taken to the Number 75 Public Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. According to Taman, Rodney and her son stayed in regular contact while playing a game called Free Fire from their separate homes. Taman, who described her son as an important source of support for the family, said she is seeking justice over his death
