- Many Oklahomans are still sharing their stories of riding out Hurricane Milton in Florida.
Some of them are there working, and others just happened to be in the state for a vacation gone wrong.
The hurricane was scary for many, but the tornadoes were just as devastating.
Many Oklahomans are on the ground, working to get power back to millions.
“I was back home, got the call to go to Florida a week before Helene hit," said Michael Abernathy from Bixby.
He is a foreman with Osmos Utility services. He's working 16-hour days to help restore power to millions on the East coast.
"There were reports of over 100 tornadoes that touched down, it reminded me of springtime in Oklahoma," he said. "It was wild.”
Michael said trees are down everywhere and he’s part of finding out what is causing outages and getting the right people there. His crew even got stuck in a tornado.

"My teammates are really good people and I am really glad to be on this team,” Banos said.
The reason he never joined a team until now was because Banos battled Leukemia for three years.
“In Kindergarten that's when I got it that's when it hit. I couldn't walk for a little bit,” Banos said.
Even while undergoing treatment, his mind was on the game.
"He has been wanting to play football his whole life,” Haley Sitton, Nycto’s mom, said.
When he went into remission in December and was cleared by his doctors, he stayed persistent.
"To watch him go from not being able to breathe and now running and playing football is just amazing,” Sitton said.

A group of nine factory-built homes were lifted onto foundations, alongside another nine built on site, on slabs, for wheelchair access.
What now looks like an instant neighborhood came after years of planning.
“I'm not a developer by trade. If I and my team can pull this off, others can do it too, because we need more than one,” said Eden Village Tulsa co-founder Brad Johnson.
The neighborhood covers 17 acres, including 7 acres reserved for a small farm.
One of the first homes is reserved for Donald Schloup, who said he looked forward to having a physical address again, after several years living in a truck.

This is because certain Medicare Advantage plans will no longer be accepted by the hospital system.
This change affects anyone on Medicare Advantage plans through providers like Humana, Aetna, and Blue Cross and Blue Shield, as well as some others. While it is only affecting primary care physicians, one woman worries this is just the beginning.
In a message from her doctor on MyChart, Debra Stephens recently learned she would need to find a new doctor.
“I felt like I’d been a part of their system for 15 years, and I was being literally kicked out, unless you adhere to our insurance—go find someone else,” she said.

- Oklahoma recently announced that voters will decide on a minimum wage increase in 2026.
If passed, the state's minimum wage would rise from $7.25 to $12 per hour in the first year, eventually reaching $15 per hour with potential adjustments for inflation. This potential change poses challenges for small business owners.
To get advice on how they can prepare, we spoke with Paul Hood, a business owner with 17 locations.
"I think it's more of a political issue," Hood said. "The reality is, because I own a business, I can't find anybody to work for minimum wage. A lot of places are already paying at or above minimum wage due to supply and demand."
Hood explained that in his opinion businesses are not likely to absorb the higher labor costs out of the "kindness of their heart." Instead, they will likely raise prices or innovate to maintain profitability.
For example, he noted the rise of self-service kiosks at fast-food restaurants. ...

Darku Jarmola joined us on the Arcacontinental Coca-Cola Southwest Beverages Porch to talk about HeartWerk.
Jarmola has been creating experiences for music lovers with the HeartWerk project since 2018. But his journey in music stretches back to his roots in DJing, dating back to 2006. When asked about the inspiration for the name HeartWerk, Jarmola explained that electronic music is an integral part of his life.
"Electronic music has always been at the front of my heart, and ‘Werk’ is a nod to Kraftwerk, some of the originators of electronic music.”
For Jarmola, DJing is more than just mixing tracks—it's about creating a unique experience.
"I love creating environments where people can truly just let loose and enjoy themselves. When I'm playing and I see a bunch of smiling faces havin...

- A Tulsa judge ordered recounts of two City of Tulsa elections following requests by losing candidates who hoped for a different outcome.
In one case, City Council District 3, the recount didn’t change the outcome.
The recount in the race for Mayor is underway.
The Tulsa County Election Board completed the District 3 recount Thursday afternoon and reported Jackie Dutton lost three votes from the original count and Susan Frederick also lost three votes, leaving the outcome of Dutton winning by 186 votes the same.
The ballots cast in the race for Tulsa Mayor are being recounted, but the results are not anticipated for several days.
Two people examine each ballot, and two people record the vote, and if a dispute arises, the election board stands by to make a ruling.
“These machines are usually dead on the money. When you count them by hand, there will be very little difference at the end,” said Gwen Freeman, the Tulsa El...

- United States Sen. James Lankford addressed the shooting at Apalachee High School in Georgia while visiting the University of Tulsa on Thursday.
Lankford said that he thinks improvements need to be made to school security across the country.
"Truly awful to be able to see another school shooting on this, every single parent, every child, every educator, grieves through the process on this as they're prosecuting now a 14-year-old with obvious mental issues. That was somebody that came out even a year ago and said he was talking about doing a school shooting, so there'll be lots of questions on how that's handled, what was done, what was not done, to be able to protect those parents, those teachers as well, and those students, but we are still a culture that's very dependent on families taking care of families, and a community in a school dealing with that as well," said Lankford.
"So thankful for a school resource officer that was there. Very grateful for...
