- This morning a person called 911 to report that a gym bad bag left unattended at a bus bench on Oakdale Rd. in Modesto, California seemed suspicious and appeared to have a ticking sound coming from the bag.
The Modesto Police Department arrived on the scene first and then called out the Stanislaus County Sheriff's Department Bomb Squad to take over the situation. Police evacuated several businesses near the bag and closed down Oakdale Rd. in both directions.
The Bomb Squad used a specialized robot to X-ray the bag. They were able to determine that the bag was harmless. They took custody of the bag and then reopened the area.

- This afternoon a police officer with the Modesto Police Department pulled a vehicle over for a routine traffic stop on Coffee Rd. in Modesto, California. The lone occupant of the vehicle pulled into the driveway of a home, got out of the vehicle, and then fled from the officer jumping over fences and running through yards.
The officer saw that the suspect was holding a handgun. The Modesto Police Department also knew right away who the suspect was having encountered him several prior times. Police decided that he was an especially high risk to the community and called in their SWAT Team and a police helicopter to aid in the search for the suspect.
Police found the suspect after about two hours of searching in a home on Coffee Villa.
We were on the scene and talked with Heather Graves from the Modesto Police Department about all the available details.

- Police Investigate A Drive-By Shooting At An Apartment Complex In Modesto, California

- Late last night / early this morning just after midnight, several people at the Oxford Apartments at 1011 Tully Rd. in Modesto, California called 911 to report that they had heard several gun shots and then heard a vehicle speeding away.
When police arrived on the scene they first checked to make sure that no one was injured. After confirming that there were no injuries they began collecting evidence which included shell casing and bullets that were lodged in the walls of at least one apartment.
At the scene no one was able to give a description of the suspect(s) as all the people in the complex were inside their homes at the time of the shooting.

- Yesterday at around 6:30 pm a big rig truck hauling a load of thousands of peaches, traveling northbound on Highway 99 overturned and spilled the load of peaches all over the freeway.
The driver of the truck was unharmed during the crash. The cause of the crash is still under investigation however no other car was hit during the crash.
All the northbound lanes were closed for nearly 30 minutes before one lane was open. The other lanes remained closed for several hours and crews worked throughout the night to clean up the rest of the mess.

- Last night a woman in Ceres, California called police to report that her car had been car jacked by a former acquaintance who she reportedly had a restraining order against.
As police were responding to the call an officer spotted the car being driven in Ceres. He attempted a traffic stop on the vehicle. At that time the male suspect fled and began a police chase.
The suspect drove onto Highway 99 and then in Modesto, California where he crossed into oncoming traffic at points during the chase.
Police used a pit maneuver to disable the vehicle in the intersection of Lucern and Bodem in Modesto. At that point second parked vehicle was also damaged on Bodem. The grey car in the video was the suspect video and the red car was the parked car.

- Late last night / early this morning at around 2:15 am several men (over a dozen) were taken into custody out of two large vans on Highway 99 in Modesto, California.
We were there to film the arrests but are still working on getting the details as to why the men were taken into custody.
The arrests appear to possibly be connected to a shooting that occurred minutes before on Crows Landing Rd. near Glenn Ave. but, we have not yet been able to confirm that at this time.

- Last night at around midnight a person called 911 to report that a man had been stabbed at the Stop N' Save Liquor store on Paradise Rd. near Chicago Ave. in Modesto, California's West Side neighborhood.
When Stanislaus County Deputies and Emergency crews arrived on the scene they found the victim laying down near the sidewalk bleeding. The suspect had fled the scene.
Deputies headed into the surrounding areas looking for the suspect while other deputies, firefighters and medics stayed with the victim.
Upon examination by medics deputies discovered that the man had not been stabbed but had been beaten severely which included being kicked repeatedly. The current condition of the victim has not been released.
Deputies did not locate the suspect during their initial search but, are still working on the case. They are asking anyone with information about this attack to call Crime Stoppers at 1-866-60-CRIME.

- Last night deputies were called to a house near the intersection of Sonora Ave. and Romeo Ave. in an unincorporated area of Modesto, California near Ceres, California for reports that a man had been stabbed.
When deputies arrived on the scene they found the victim who was transported to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

- This afternoon a police officer attempted to arrest a suspect for undisclosed charges in the area of Vera Cruz Dr. in Modesto, California. When attempted the arrest the suspect ran from the officer. The officer gave chase and called for backup to come to the scene.
During the foot pursuit the suspect pulled a handgun out and trough it into the yard of an apartment on Vera Cruz Dr. When the gun hit the ground the weapon fired a bullet. No one was hit by the round and police did not fire their weapons during the incident.
The suspect was taken into custody seconds later and the gun was recovered from the yard. Two other suspects were also taken into custody at the scene. Police did not release the details of their charges pending their ongoing investigation.

- Yesterday morning a person called 911 to report that she had just been involved in a crash with another motorist. The dispatched called out the vehicle description to police and within seconds of that a police officer noticed the vehicle on Lakewood Ave.
The officer got in behind the vehicle and read out the license plate number and when he did the dispatcher reported to the officer that, that vehicle was wanted in connection to a shooting two weeks prior. Because of this the officer waited to conduct the traffic stop until additional officers could catch up to them.
When enough officers arrived police initiated the traffic stop. The suspect pulled into the parking lot at Oakdale Rd. and Claribel and surrendered to police.

- This evening at around 8:30 pm emergency crews were called to the scene of a vehicle versus pedestrian collision on Yosemite Blvd. near Riverside Ave. in Modesto, California.
When the crews arrived on the scene they found the vehicle involved, the driver who was not injured, and a person who had been struck by the vehicle laying in the roadway.
Medics on the scene pronounced the pedestrian dead and police called in their traffic investigation unit to begin their investigation into the collision.
Police are still in the early stages of their investigation and had not yet determined several important factors during our interview however, they do know that the pedestrian was not in a crosswalk.

- Last night at around 7:30 pm a person in one of the stores located inside the Vintage Faire Mall in Modesto, California noticed large revolver in the waistband of a man who was shopping with woman in the store. The gun was inside the waistband with a shirt over the top of it however, at some point it became visible.
The person immediately notified the mall security team who quickly found the suspect walking to other stores in the mall. They followed him on camera and had security officers following him however, they did not approach the armed man. They called the Modesto Police Department who sent out several officers and kept eyes on the suspect until police officers arrived.

- Last night at around 9:30 pm firefighters with the Modesto fire Department were dispatched to a home on Columbia Way in Modesto, California for reports that a house was on fire.
When the first firefighters arrived they found flames and smoke coming from the house and spreading to a neighbors house too. They called in for additional help and started to work fighting the fire.
They were able to save the neighbor's home before the fire destroyed it however, the original home that was on fire for the most part completely destroyed and the neighbors home sustained significant damage as well.
One adult woman, a resident of the original home that was on fire, was injured during the fire. Her injuries are not life threatening.
The fire is currently under investigation. The very first initial damage estaminets are over $180,000 for the initial house and $20,000 for the second home.

- Early this morning at around 3:00 am residents in two houses located on Lock Ave. in Modesto, California were awakened when a commercial style full sized van crashed through one house's garage and into a second house's garage.
The residents called 911 but, by the time anyone was able to look outside the driver (and any possible passengers) had already fled the scene on foot.
Police and firefighters arrived minutes later. Police searched the area but were unable to locate a suspect. When police ran a the vehicle's information they found that the van had been reported stolen before the crash.
No residents were injured during the crash and the residents were able to stay in their homes after firefighters checked the structures to be sure they were sound.

- This evening at around 5:15 pm police and emergency medical crews were dispatched to the intersection of Coffee Rd. and Briggsmore Ave. for reports that a man had been struck by a car in the cross walk.
When the crews arrived they found the man laying in the roadway. The man was alert but had serious injuries. He was transported from the scene by ambulance to the nearby Memorial Medical Center. His current condition has not been released.
Several independent witnesses at the scene told police that the man was crossing the street against a red light and tried to outrun the oncoming traffic as he crossed.
