Description: The 27-year-old son of former Washington Commanders and current Kansas City Chiefs offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy has been charged after officials said he shot his mother Sunday evening at the family’s Loudoun County home, according to the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies responded around 7:32 p.m. to the 20000 block of Northpark Drive for a reported shooting. When they arrived, they found a woman suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. She was taken to a nearby hospital with serious injuries.

The victim was identified as Mia Bieniemy, 57, who is reported to be in stable condition. Loudoun County Sheriff Mike Chapman said Mia Bieniemy made the call to 911 following the shooting.

“I’ll just say she was shot multiple times, and we have to go through an entire investigation to determine where everybody was, what they did, what prompted it, and how it all transpired. We’re conducting that investigation right now,” Chapman said....

Description: Passengers aboard a whale watching boat in central California were treated to a special show over the weekend in Monterey Bay.

A pod of killer whales was spotted hunting a group of dolphins in a scene that is pretty rare for whale watchers.

The passengers aboard a Sanctuary Cruises Boat spotted the battle where adult orcas can be seen ramming a dolphin with enough force to send it clean out of the water.

The orcas themselves were even seen going full airborne in the pursuit.

Officials state that orca sightings in the area are relatively common, but for a vessel to witness this type of attack is pretty rare.

Description: MU Health Care Children’s Hospital in Columbia continues to expand after celebrating its second birthday earlier this year.

An expanded third floor will open new pediatric surgery suites, meaning kids and their families can more easily get specialty care close to home. Here, patients can get kidney transplants, specialized cancer treatments and advanced care for heart and lung diseases.

“We built this facility to take care of kids right here within their community,” said Laura Hesemann, MD, Children’s Hospital Chief Medical Officer. “We have more than 35 pediatric specialties, including physicians, therapists, child life and psychologists. We have the whole team here.”

Better care closer to home means that many of the 55,000 pediatric patients treated here in 2025 can spend more time at home, with friends and at school, and means less travel for their parents.

Description: On July 21, 1865, a legendary shootout took place between Wild Bill Hickok and Davis Tutt in Springfield, Missouri.

Tensions between the two boiled over regarding a debt.

The shootout itself became the template for the classic Wild West quick-draw duel.

Hickok and Tutt stood in the town square, and both men drew and fired their revolvers nearly at once.

Tutt’s shot missed. Wild Bill’s did not.

He struck Tutt in the chest, and the gambler died at the scene.

Hickok was arrested days after the shootout and stood trial for manslaughter on August 3rd.

After quick deliberations, the jury ruled that Wild Bill was not guilty.

The story of the shootout spread across the country in an 1867 edition of Harper’s New Monthly Magazine, which turned the gunslinger into a celebrity.
