- Most people don’t think twice about what’s in their drinking water, so KIRO 7 decided to ask the question: How safe is yours?
The answer depends partially on where you get your water.
A majority of Washingtonians get their water from a Group A public water system.
This means the system provides service to 15 or more connections.
“The Group A water systems have a really robust set of regulations and requirements that go along with them,” said Mike Means, the water quality policy and certification manager for Washington’s Office of Drinking Water.
These requirements are overseen by the state’s Department of Health, with some coordination from local governments. There are regular inspections for microorganisms and chemicals.

According to the Thurston County Sheriff’s Office (TCSO), SWAT moved in to arrest the 20-year-old suspect, who was believed to be armed with an automatic weapon. They allegedly tried to box the suspect in, but he was able to escape in a car and sped off.

The Pacific Northwest Seismic Network (PNSN) confirmed Tuesday that the anomaly came from the St. Andrews Rock (STAR) station, one of the network’s oldest sensors on the volcano.
While its display appeared to show nonstop, high-energy tremor activity for days, PNSN said nearby instruments — hundreds of them positioned around Rainier — showed no similar behavior.

Coyotes are usually afraid of people and keep their distance but according to the City of Seattle, this one wasn’t.
“They are not safe to interact with in any way, shape or form,” said Rachel Schulkin of Seattle Parks and Recreation.
Three incidents contributed to the trapping and killing.
The first: a coyote was caught on camera stealing a woman’s jacket at the arboretum. According to the city, there was also a report of a coyote stealing food from right next to a person and attacking a dog on a leash.
There was concern that the behavior would escalate, so the city reached out to the US Department of Agriculture and the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife for help.
