- It’s a parent’s worst nightmare and a student’s greatest fear.
A viral video—shared and spreading like wildfire—showed an armed individual in the school’s parking lot.
For more than an hour, students at Alexander High School were placed on lockdown.
The video making the rounds, only a few seconds in length, depicting a gun on the lap of an individual reportedly outside the campus caused more than 100 law enforcement officers from roughly a dozen agencies to report to the campus.
Yet no shots were ever fired and the suspect was located and placed in custody.
To separate fact from fiction, and responding to what looked like such a serious threat, officials describe the coordination that took place to determine who was in charge and how responsibility was delegated.
The investigation continues, but that didn’t stop those involved from starting to reflect on what went right and what went wrong.

- It’s finally over. For a year, Ricardo Rangel waited patiently. He waited even after a trial judge ruled that he won his election back in November 2022.
Rangel waited even after the Fourth Court of Appeals affirmed that decision last November.
But patience is a virtue, and when the Texas Supreme Court refused to hear Daisy Campos-Rodriguez’s case a few weeks ago—her last appeal option—Rangel couldn’t wait any longer and he was sworn in the same day the ruling came down.
He’s spent the first few days on the job getting up to speed, and despite the long wait, Rangel shared some parting words for his former opponent.

Two separate issues were argued, including what actions to take against non-compliant witnesses who refuse to show up and testify, and how to move forward in getting a true vote count after the most recent recount showed a discrepancy in the number of ballots.
During the hearing, several witnesses were called, including city and county employees, who each faced Judge Reed, and where the judge expressed her disdain for people who ignore court orders.
