Jail records show Regan Shameika Anderson was booked into the El Paso County Downtown Jail and charged with murder on Friday.
According to the complaint affidavit, Anderson is being accused of stabbing and killing Daissy Guadalupe Moreno on July 18, after the two got into an argument during a house party held at the 4000 block of Lavell Avenue near Dyer Street in Northeast El Paso.
Witnesses reportedly told investigators that as the party was ending, Moreno got into an argument with the woman hosting the party after she allegedly claimed she was a police informant and accused Anderson and others of criminal activity.
Witnesses added that at this point they saw Moreno getting dragged by her hair into a black car and leaving with Anderson and two other people from the party.

- El Paso ISD central office administrators are heading back to the classroom this school year under a new plan the district says could save millions while also reconnecting decision-makers with the campuses they serve.
The district is requiring salaried central office employees to work as substitute teachers eight days during the school year, four days each semester.
Hourly employees are not required to participate, and some staff may be exempt depending on how their positions are funded.
On Friday morning, Micaela Varela, EPISD’s director of elementary personnel and recruiting, spent the day as a substitute teacher in a fourth-grade classroom at Polk Elementary.
“So this is bringing us back into where the purpose behind all the work we do at Central Office,” Varela said.
The initiative follows major budget actions taken this year. In June, EPISD declared financial exigency and made millions in cuts to reduce a proje...

- Prescription drug prices are falling at their fastest annual rate in more than six decades, offering potential relief to Americans who have struggled with the rising cost of medications.
New data shows prescription drug prices are down 3.1% from a year ago, marking the steepest annual decline since 1963. The Trump administration has pointed to greater price transparency, its most-favored-nation drug pricing policy and new prescription discounts as factors contributing to lower costs.
Speaking with The National News Desk, Dr. Ryan Cole, head of medical and scientific affairs and senior fellow of pathology at the Independent Medical Alliance, said the complicated structure of the U.S. prescription drug market has historically contributed to higher prices for American patients.

Supporters of AI argue the technology could boost worker productivity, reduce business costs and ultimately help ease inflationary pressures. But as AI expands, so does a debate in Washington and across the country over how the technology — and the massive data centers powering it — should be regulated.
Former White House economic adviser Steve Moore told The National News Desk that policymakers should be careful not to restrict an industry he believes could transform the U.S. economy.
"This is the next big thing," Moore said. "It is going to be bigger than the internet."

Environmental advocates have been raising those concerns and asking for developers to include the communities in the process.
"It's not a question of can these facilities impact local water resources. The question is, how do we manage that?” West Virginia Rivers Coalition Senior Scientist Nathaniel Hitt said. “And are we going to include the local communities who know best?"
Ten data center facilities have already been proposed in West Virginia.
"We've seen this story before so many times companies come here and they extract resources, and then when the markets change or the resources are gone, so are the companies,” Hitt said.
