- We hosted in-person commencement ceremonies for the Class of 2020 with small groups of students and families throughout the month of June. Our valedictorians and salutatorians delivered some outstanding speeches. Be inspired by the highlight reel and know that our future is in good hands!

- 2020 has been a unique year, to say the least, and that has been especially true for the class of 2020. Due to COVID-19, Kansas City Public Schools was forced to close its buildings in March in order to protect our students, staff, and community. However, learning and achievement did not stop, and the class of 2020 finished its senior year strong.
In order to honor the class of 2020 appropriately and maintain a sense of normalcy despite the circumstances, KCPS partnered with Tico Productions to provide a graduation experience for our seniors. We know that graduation is more than just a ceremony. It is a celebration of a student’s educational journey, and a chance for them to be honored for the late-night study sessions, the doubt they might have felt right before a big test, and juggling their commitments while coming to school every day ready to learn.

- On March 11, 2020, at the KCPS On the Road Board Meeting held at Troost Elementary School, KCPS honored its 2020 Spring Community Champion, the Blue Hills Neighborhood Association.
The Blue Hills neighborhood has benefitted from the work of Blue Hills Community Services and many other initiatives. ... The efforts of Blue Hills residents and partnering organizations have helped Blue Hills resist the decline and maintain goodwill in the community.
The public high school in Blue Hills is the Paseo Academy for the Performing Arts, the successor school to the Paseo High School. Notably, the original Paseo High School building was constructed with the rock quarried from the hill where it was built. That technique was also used to construct the stone foundations on many of the homes built in Blue Hills during that period.
